I used that file to update my phone and had no problems.

I removed the posted and the links.

why remove?
today is 08/01/2010, which file should be used for manual update?

I removed the file and post because no one wanted it and was told it was old.
so the 23 people that downloaded it should delete it and wait till the phone tells them to update.

hutchinj is posting release notes from the previous 6/28 update. It has nothing to do with the Froyo update and should be moved...

Holy crap! Thanks. I thought I was on another planet or something there!

got that. still is not uploading and giving me the error. been trying to figure out what i have been doing wrong all day. they say that you have to have the 1.47 update is that true. also is my mac automatically unzips it does it supposed to stay zipped

Not sure if it's a requirement, but I did download that update to my phone.

There is a post somewhere in this thread about how to download the file directly to your phone and then rename it using a program available in the market. You might want to try searching for it and seeing if you can get it to work that way.

I used the link in post #401 in this thread and followed the instructions in post #346.

Worked perfectly and everything is running great on my phone.

does anyone know if this will work on a mac or the instructions of putting froyo on mac. thanks

I was having trouble on the mac because the downloaded file ended up being a decompressed folder, not a zip file. So I downloaded straight to the phone and use Astro file manager to put it in the sdcard root directory. Piece of cake.

Remember on Friday when Sprint's support page said:

Looks like Sprint removed the leaked update from their support page.

I noticed that this morning as well.

So far I'm still running 2.2 from the leaked file and haven't had a problem. Still waiting for the "official" OTA update...

Nobody had a problem with you posting a link to the file, it was all the other text that went with it. It made it sound like it was something new or different.

download and then rename update then drag to your device once plugged up to the computer.

I have the Swype beta... It won't work at first.. What you have to do is go to managed applications and remove Swype but DO NOT remove the Swype installer... Once you remove the Swype application just run the installer and it will ask you for your username and password and you install it again and like you did before enable it again and it works fine.

You shouldn't "LOOSE" any applications... So far since I installed my EVO is exactly as it was before.... Just says I have 2.2 and a few minor upgrades.. Most of what your getting you can't see... It looks and for the most part acts the same... You get full flash, a better camera (slightly) plus a quicker/faster UI experience...

Thanks Robbie. I guess I like my app's like my women kid. lol I didn't even get what the other guy was getting at until I re-read my post. Thanks again!

lol. It's all good. Funny though..... Hope you were able to get up and running.

According to this thread: http://forum.androidcentral.com/htc-evo-4g/26306-2-2-froyo-pushed-back-say-aint-so.html

"Android 2.2 Update for the EVO..
?The Android 2.2 client initiated download availability date is delayed.
?We recognize that many of our HTC EVO customers are... eagerly waiting for the new Google enhancements.
?Sprint and HTC are working together to ensure availability as soon as possible.
?A revised availability date will be communicated as quickly as possible."

From someone that called Sprint. Not sure if it is true, though.

The .3 update seems snappier, but not on the level the jit was supposed to make it. Does anyone have good before-after performance speed? I've tried linpack and get 39 at the high, but also as low as 19. Neocore seems to have gone from 22 to 26. Quadrant stop has this slower than a Droid x with 2.1.

Anyone getting better?

I got a high of 42 on linpack same as you on quadrant.

I down loaded and installed the "leaked" version from a couple of days and while it went well and everythng seems to be running fine, my battery life seems to have taken a serious hit. I'm not someone that has complained about Evo battery life at all. I generally have been able to go through an entire day and still have 40-50% battery life by the time I go to bed at night. The past two days I am going from full to 5% battery life or so after about 6-8 hours. Yesterday I pulled my phone off the charger at 7:30 AM and by 4:30 or so it was almost completely dead. Today I pulled it off the charger around 11:00 and by 7:00 I had to plug it back in because the battery was well into the red.

I'm hoping that the "real" update changes this.

Is it possible that the leaked update erased the battery memory within Android causing the battery plunge? Mine was really bad yesterday but today seems to be getting better.

I have the .3 Froyo on my EVO also. It seemed really to be easier on the battery at first but once I used the Froyo for a day now it seems to eat battery again.

I haven't had any major issues. Took about 20 minutes for entire install. I used Preware on my Palm Pre so I am used to updates being risky. Most of the 270 apps I have loaded worked perfect. Google image search has issues. Very slow and swipe from one pic to the next does work. Podcast had the same saved podcast playing twice at different point in the show. Lastly WiFi has a bug where it just shuts off. I lose WiFi when I am 10 feet from my routers in my house. I one on each floor. EVO had WiFi weak anntenna before so that may be part of the problem.

Overall it is a much better experience than 2.1 if you forgive the bugs, and I do. I have seen much more on the Pre. Android 2.2 on the EVO doesn't look much different until you use it for awhile then you really start to love what they did here.

.3 Froyo isn't ready for the public but its close. Who knows what build will be released on tues but I am hoping its at least .4 Froyo. If they delay it its to fix the bugs, Google sync n webpage have to work better. HTC pulled the manual update for a reason. It's not ready. If you don't want to wait for the official release don't be afraid to install the .3 build. I didn't lose anything. If you want perfect and no small bugs I would wait at least until tues and see if the official Froyo is released.

I did find my Google talk was re enabled, so I promptly turned that off to keep it from running in the background.
