Evo 4G update to Froyo OFFICIAL August 3rd (OLD)

That's funny because it says to check by using the OTA method, where can you get the manual version?

That is the manual version. Manual means: "you push the button to make it check now" rather than "wait for it to check automatically" or "wait for Sprint to send a notification to your phone to check".

no, all last ones were htc software updates. firmware update is solely for radio firmware updates.

I vote to close all Froyo threads for the weekend.

Thanks mods.

But these threads are always entertaining :p

I've learned from my BB days to not believe anything until I see an article say it's available for download right now.

For geeks like me, waiting on an update can just be downright painful. Waiting for Blackberry updates I think was the worst.

Pre updates were horrible to wait for too. The phone was lacking a lot of functionality right out of the box, so waiting months and months for the functionality to trickle into WebOS made me want to pull my hair out.

The current update we are waiting for is icing on the cake, because there is nothing that I NEED for my Evo right now. 2.2 will be cool and awesome to have though. Only thing that bothers me about my Evo is the 30fps cap... and I don't think that's coming on this update.

its delayed! got the call back with no exact date....

Yeah I got a call back too. apparently the techs weren't notified of the delay coz he had me go through the whole manual update process before again and again and...well you get it.

tech called back and said its been delayed check in a week!!

So, the people over at androidforums.com locked the Froyo Sticky thread until it is offically released because people were going crazy over there and posting rude offensive lies and what not. I am glad it is much more civilized over here.

Could the update for OTA manual checking be tied to ESN #'s in order of activation? Those that got the phone on launch day might get a chance for the update a bit sooner than those just getting their phones. Or, the possibility of sending out the update to batches of ESNs?

Just throwing some ideas out there.
