Evo HDMI out mirroring?

I have a possible suggestion for those of you that are having the screen going off the edges. I am not ashamed to admit that I was thinking I had the same problem, but I realized that I had a setting for the aspect ratio on the TV set to cut it off.

Most TVs have multiple options for aspect ratio. For example, zoom, hourglass, etc. Just make sure this setting is set to fill the screen.

I am not saying that is the case for all of you, it just was for me. Once I changed the setting, it filled the screen perfectly without messing with the X Y resolutions.

Good call on this, I completely forgot those settings even exited. Fixed my small tv resolution like a charm

Any testers seeing a lot of flickering on Google maps. Any thoughts on why? Eventually this will be plunged up on a smaller in dash LCD screen!!

@orrebmas:

hey man I got your PM on XDA and signed up over here. Can you PM me the DL link to start testing? I'd PM you this, but I can't until I get 5 posts. Thanks

It will be great to just connect the ol' EVO to the tv in my bedroom so that I can get my wife's netbook out of there.

This is amazing Brad, thanks for figuring it out and sharing. I will add it to the notes and errata about the app.

Any time frame for when i could get some HDMI goodness!!

Currently working on enabling reputable Sense ROMs with the changes needed while moving along with beta testing. There are some "wrinkles" that are being ironed out, mainly regarding stability and user experience. Also the app needs a spray paint job for its UI. I am estimating two weeks before it is ready for public consumption.

I noticed that higher frequency TVs flicker more than lower freq ones (got 120 and 60). Is it mainly in google maps that you are getting the flickering? What is the frequency of your TV? Did you try turning off supercharge mode or use software mode?
Flickering can only be totally fixed with the drivers unfortunately. Like I mentioned before, drivers work are not the scope of this project's development right now. Maybe after everybody has access to FullHDMI, I may shift focus to improving the drivers, unless the flickering is happening enough to a point that needs to be addressed before public launch. Can you try it on your smaller LCD in your vehicle (which most likely has lower frequency)?

Yes mostly on Google maps I have toggled all both rendering. and supercharge not much difference. The tv I'm using currently is older Samsung Plasma 42" 1080I.......I know its old lol. H Freq 45kHz V Freq 60 Hz all Digital NR options are off. I will try on my 19" LCD and 32" Insignia LCD looking into changing options from ur above post(Insignia). I don't have my setup finished for my truck still working on it.

I noticed that it was flickering a lot on google maps too. The other place I noticed it was in Hulu from the browser. It would flicker like crazy while the video was loading and even while it was running in browser. The way I use Hulu is by clicking on the tiny little full screen button in the flash window.

Once I click that and the video fills the screen, the flickering pretty much goes away.

Another strange thing, that may not be of much help, is that when I first installed the new kernel, I used the fastboot method as Sam suggested. It was my first time ever using that, and although it worked, everything was flickering.

I wiped my dalvik cache, and installed Artlans zip, and the flickering was drastically reduced, but it continues to happen in maps, and certain web pages. To be honest, this could have all been coincidental, or even in my head. It's possible that the way I installed the kernel had nothing to do with it.

i started getting total phone freezing when trying to get pic right ....changed setting once (it worked) disabled app turned it back on screen size shrank (but stayed center) changed settings again (aspect ratio) couldnt get it back to full screen without edges cut off and phone would freeze completly having to pull batt

Well I my EvO all hooked up with the kernel and the apk... Just have to get home to get my cable ... Dang can't this train move any faster...

Has anybody tried any of those Micro HDMI to HDMI Adapters off of fleabay yet ? I ordered a couple as this seems like they might come in handy in case I forget my regular cable , and its pretty easy to find a loose regular HDMI cable laying somewhere these days...

I actually just use an HDMI coupler instead. Your idea might be better because your adapter could be transported more easily than a cable+coupler. I have an HDMI to DVI cable as well. With that and the coupler, I have been able to connect to most minitors. But I lose the audio.

I saw something that was actually for xbox that broke out the audio separate. I was going to look for a cable that was hdmi on one end, and hdmi, plus a 3.5mm jack for the audio on the other end. Giving me more options for how and where to use this app.

beta tester here

i just installed the app and kernel tonight. very easy to do. i tried it a little and found it worked great. will do some more testing tomorrow.
