Evo HDMI out mirroring?

I tried to pm orrebemas about the apk he sent for the stock Evo. I can't seem to get it to work no matter what I do. My tv will turn black like it wants to play something then that's it.

It can be tricky to get it going at first, try plugging in the phone before opening the app. Then wait a few seconds for the tv and phone to "handshake" open the app and make sure software mode is on.

Also, try pulling down the notification bar and changing the resolution from auto to 720. The stock hdmi thing that tells you it's connected. Sometimes just swapping settings will wake it up.

Congrats to teamwin for also getting full mirroring, this is really great that its also been done for AOSP as well!

Wow.....nice! Just one day after Teamwin steals orrebmas app, they bypass the decrypt function to bypass the license file, post it on another forum under a ghost account to screw him over, and then they miraculously get their HDMI mirroring within hours of the app being stolen and leaked!

I know that we were supposed to keep this thread civil and not turn it into a soap opera, but this is just ridiculous. The least they could have done is waited a few days to not make it so obvious. I guess when you are a big player in the world of Android development, you can piss and **** on someone, steal their work, and then get congratulated for it.

Teamwin = Teamrape. Someone mentioned boycotting XDA? It isn't the website's fault. If you want to boycott someone...........

Before you start this drama fest i'll end it.
Lets wait until we actually see whats inside of AOSP HDMI, before we hate. Teamwin has done wonders in terms of development, and are respected for a reason.

Orrebmas has the FULL support of AC, and i hope that he decides to stay here throughout development and beyond.

As an alpha tester I know the software was keyed to our google account. If anyone ran it, it was cracked, period. No drama or hate here. Just a fact.

Thank you for this supportive post!

I have nothing against orrebmas or anyone else here, and I am more than open to collaboration... sadly, orrebmas is more interested in money than working together, but I digress.

Also, that said, if anyone is interested in seeing the source code we used to get mirroring working, they are more than welcome. It's very primitive at this point, actually kind of embarassing how bad it looks right now and obviously, we will improve on it :).

Also, once we are finished, everything we do under the banner of #teamwin will be open source and free.

I would almost bet that orrebmas has a few easter eggs planted in his app, a sorta electronic signature on his work.

Wow, pure slander.

I'm only going to make one post on this. Teamwin has no interest in using anybody elses work in any form in their development of hdmi. Our focus has been on an AOSP/CM implementation and always will be. Our work it totally open source and we do it for fun and for the community.

The breakthrough we had last night in hdmi was completely coincidental with the postings on xda. We have had some form of working hdmi for a couple of weeks (reference tweet here: Twitter). Last nights breakthrough got us to video mirroring but scaling still is an issue. Our current development seems behind this project, and we have no intention of making it a race as end goals are different. Sense and closed source vs AOSP and open source.

Teamwin will continue to devote time and energy into their HDMI project for the community, regardless of slanderous comments such as these.

First, thank you for all you have done for Android. I respect your work and think that you and orrebmas can succeed at the same time. But I would like to request that you edit the sentence about him being more interested in money. If you would like I can send you a personal email from him to me asking me to not send him another donation.

You are entitled to your opinion on the situation, but that's just a little personal and I honestly think you are better than that.

so i have the app and the artlan kernal installed and i get a problem where my sound goes out when i plug in my hdmi cable. i get no sound whatsoever on my phone or hdmi or headphones. but i can still get in call volume. has anyone else experienced this?

i am running the latest ava froyo sense rom.

That money statement is not true. The latest copy I have of his program has a nice big donate button on it. This is the one that's going to be released to the public. And I'm sure it will once he gets over someone posting his program online. It would bother me if something I didn't want out yet was stolen by someone on my team.
His time, just like yours and mine and everyone elses does have value. I know you guys take donations, same model he is going to use.
I really hate what happened when he first showed up at xda. I honestly believe he was just new to the site and didn't understand all the rules and i have to admit that forum has a LOT of rules. The moderators at xda have very little tolerance for rules broken on purpose or by mistake. if you've been a member there for a while you understand this. If your new it seems a little neandertol. And, I've had my feathers ruffled more than once by some of the very rude people over there. And you have to admit, there is some damn childish crap that goes on.

Sam is one damn talented programmer as are you. And, I would really like to see you two guys get together and work on things. You both could really help each other. I hope one of you will offer an olive branch to the other. it would greatly benefit the android community.

I really want to try out CM7 and I'm going to once it's really polished. And I know you guys will have it totally bug free. And more than likely have hdmi working as well.

I was having the opposite effect. When I would unplug the cable, I would lose the ability to get audio on the other ports. It may be that the phone recognized that the hdmi audio pin was in, but the TV didn't. Remember, hdmi carries video and audio. Some TVs may think only video is connected. Do you have another TV to try to rule this out?

I still prefer to buy an hdmi apk, than just have it built in. (fullHDMU ;)... Although i will run cm at times, I want something I can use across all roms as I change so much. Hopefully, we can all still help Sam finish this great project when he needs -there will still be tens of thousands of sense users that will desire this app!

Continue to keep up the awesome work Orrebmas!

Everytime I've used the program I did it in this order.
Plug cable in 1st(wait till phone shows connection)
launch program
start service.
Reverse
stop service
exit program
unplug cable

It comes on for me every time. And all sounds work after using.

...to get an image that looks really sharp/crisp on a big screen tv, what type of size and compression would one need? I mean, to really have it look like a dvd and not just a decent evo screen blown up? (its hard to really tell of the quality from looking at the youtube videos)

This would be ideal to have it work across all roms. Buy or donate I don't care that's up to the developer.
