Evo HDMI out mirroring?

On a side note, I'm getting the best battery life I've ever gotten on this kernel. Anyone else notice it?

It's basically a stock kernel, so I'm not surprised. Honestly, I don't see it any better or worse than the kernel I had before, and I was OCing to 1.15 24/7.

To any tester..whats da diff between software mode and supercharge mode?? Does supercharge uses more batt, memory..will it overheat aftet a while?

Can you use set cpu to undervolt with this kernel?

If you have the newer version of setCPU with the perflock disabler, then yes.....you can underclock.

I can tell you that you need root to use hardware acceleration mode and supercharge mode as this is what the modification on the kernel is for. See post #268 on page 27 and check through the pages around there for posts from orrebmas with more info on this. I haven't noticed any warming of the phone, but battery life is going to suffer because if you think about it, the screen is on and you're going to be using the phone for something if you're mirroring it. I think they usage of the phone drains the battery more than the app does. It only pulls 120 kb of RAM while it's running in supercharge/hardware acceleration mode......that seems very insignificant to me.

Here's my response to all the reported posts, PM's and what I've read in this thread.

1.) When it comes to software, this is the only rule we enforce:

Illegal Activities - Do not post, link, discuss, or request warez, serials, ROM's, or illegal copies of intellectual property of others in the Android Central forums.

2.) One of the fundamental advantages of Android is the premise of it being an open platform. If you're a developer this can also be a disadvantage, in that someone could de-compile your application, see all the source code, and then do what they want with it. Unless you secure a copyright on your application; this is a risk you are going to have to take. I have absolutely no clue as to whether or not this is what happened in this case; nor do many of you.

3.) We are not going to get in the middle of he said/she said accusations, nor will we allow posts that are not conducive in nature. These posts will be deleted, and if necessary, infractions will be issued if they violate rules related to personal attacks, trolling, thread crapping, or not making relevant posts.

4.) This is an unfortunate situation. On both sides, of this debate, there appears to be a history of development, support, and credibility. Ideally, I would like both orrebmas and those on the Cyanogenmod/team's side to hang out in the forums. In fact, one of my top priorities has been to attract and support developers in the forums, and it's very discouraging when I come across something like this.

So, what I'd like to ask is that nobody makes another post related to what went on at XDA, or adds fuel to the fire between the two.

After I've cleaned it up, orrebmas can have this thread, the Cynaogenmod/team's side can have their own thread, and those who support either one and want to have an on-topic discussion in regards to HDMI out mirroring, can continue to do so. Let the growth of the threads, the positive feedback each receives, and the quality of their support determine their outcome.

So what new apps has everyone tried today to use with it ? What changes have you noticed with RC2 ?

That sounds a lot better than my results. I am going to switch to Myn's today and let you know how it goes. Just to confirm, that is just Myns 2.2 RLS5, and the kernel is just from flashing the zip that Artlan packaged?
Im using Fresh Rom and I get the same flickering. I also used Artlan zip.

EVOLIFE

I am working on the flickering issue right now. However my top priority is to release the public beta and I am getting deep into the drivers, it seems that the flickering is because of LCD signal timing issues, at least so far. I may leave this "enhancement" feature till after the public beta.

Man I have been hammered through and through ..I refuse to give up the high road... I refuse to believe the community is evil.

So on a brighter note you say your working on the flicker issue ? Is ther any relation to brand of tv's and the flickering ?

Seems like a timing issue in the drivers, the chip only knows about the frequency and resolution of a TV (more or less). Other than those two parameters TVs are the same to your Evo.
Higher frequency TVs will make the problem worse, since they read more screens per second.
I have a solution in mind, but its not a simple 2 liner. It involves re-spinning the kernel (again) and a lot of trial and error it seems to get things right (which means a lot of time). That will be my next focus.

Sam will the FPS remain the same with newer kernels ? I am a baby asking a grownup questions just trying to understand the capabilities and the possible growth..

Some people have asked .. I didnt dare to speculate...

My vision was not to cook kernels with this but rather to give the driver changes to kernel chefs who already have FPS unlocked and overclockability in there. But custom Sense kernels are rare these days and their author have not shown much interest in supporting this.

Interesting sounds like some networking might be in order...

Although I am loathe now by many of the elite..

just an update: my sound problem (mentioned previously), seems to be only related to my dlp mitsubishi and the program works great with my 32 vizio plasma and 42 lcd westinghouse.

i had to mess with the resolution a bit, 1280 x 720 left me with a picture that extended past the edges of both my tvs, but i found a good balance at 1140 x 640.

i notice that i get flickering mostly when animations and transitions between programs or when scrolling through dolphin browser. when i stop scrolling or the program loads, the flickering stops. I have tried to cut out all non essential programs, but i get down to the bare system services and apps and i still notice this flickering on dolphin browser hd, skyfire browser, and the stock android browser. slingbox player will flicker each time i tap my screen to use the on-screen controls of the program (hdmi cable is secure too, so i have eliminated this as a potential source of interference.) once selecting a channel, the flickering stops and the video is great!! Really amazing stuff. Exactly what i was hoping for.

hardware vs software mode made no difference on any degree of flickering that i noticed.

Im not even sure if this is possible or if you have already thought about this then my mistake for bringing it up again, but would it be possible to have the program automatically start up when the hdmi cable is plugged in ? Or maybe have a few presets for different screen resolutions so that if i pull my phone up on 1 tv, then i can just tap on "Living Room TV" and it will already fit my screen as opposed to having to manually type in the resolution.

Again, suggestions for thought, and i want to extend my utmost gratitude and respect for your work on this app. its THE feature i find most useful in my evo (even moreso than 4g, crazy huh?)

-thanks!!!

I'm having lots of flicker as well running on 60hz 1080p & 720p.
Youtube base layer kept flicking during video motion being displayed so i went into Panasonic settings lowering res to 480p and that cleaned it up a tad.

you have extra flicker because the hacked apk does not have some of the fixes in the current beta. Flicker still happens but some tweaks have been made to minimize it and improve audio.

Well great work man.
Hopefully you have someone testing on Plasma because as I'm sure you know its a different animal on frame refresh.

I'm looking forward to finish build.
