evo sales are crushing the sprint system

I stopped by a local Best Buy around noon to pickup a screen shield and a different case. They were getting slammed and couldn't do anything about it....their interface to Sprint was down. The poor person waiting had the 9:30 appt.
Now I'm even MORE glad I got up early and went to Sprint...I had the 9A appt....that could have been me sitting there.

Finally got through after 3hrs waiting at RS. Got to be real patient today and be prepare to wait. The number porting from tmobile went through after another hour. Charging it now.

When I initially turned on the phone, it ask to dl firmware, which I cancelled. Now it doesn't prompt and do system update says no new updates? Strange.

Goto HTC Software update not Firmware update

I ran into the same issue as some others here where Radio Shack had my phone ready but Sprint's system was not able to activate the phone. Went back to work and will be stopping by again afterward. Hopefully Sprint has things running more smoothly by then!

i was the second person the sprint rep waited on this morning. took 10 tries and 45 minutes for the first guy. took about 8 tries and 35 minutes for me. was almost late for work lol.

Got mine @ Radioshack. Guy in line in front of me got in at 7.30 am, and was waiting for 3 hours before he got his. Mine only took about an hour. Major problems getting into the sprint system.

4 hours later and mine still hasn't been activated. Ridiculous.

They claim that Sprint's system is still down. A friend bought one at Sprint during lunch without issue.

I was 11th in line when the Sprint store opened at 8am. I didn't get out of there until after 10am. The computers were going super slow. They finally had to start just calling in it. Guess it depends on the store?? Anyway, now that I'm home with my new Evo it was totally worth the wait.

Went in at 9am to RS, got out 9:30-ish and my phone is still not activated and it is 3pm now. :(

It took me 3 hours to get this phone i got to sprint at 7:00 there was about 12 people in the line ahead of me and 7-8 people behind me by the time i got into the store around 8:15 and left at 10:00, there was about 25 people outside and they were pissed! people would go in and then lock the door behind them so they couldn't come in and they just had to stand outside when there was like 10 people inside although it was a nice visit they had donuts and juice/coffee

Had problems porting numbers from AT&T to Sprint.. guy said not to try the phone until 2pm and that was at 8am..

I didn't believe the guy because it took him awhile to even get things going in the system.. Tried the phones around 9 and both worked flawlessly so I don't know why he was telling me to wait so long.. retarded. Sprint reps were terrible.

Tried that earlier. Said to call sprint because my account was different causing an error message. I chatted with them and they said that my account is being upgraded (part of activation process) and no ETA of when it'll be done. Initially they said 2 hours, but that was at 9am LOL....it's nearly 6 hours later.

Overly conservative is not terrible. He was just setting expectations. They all say it takes a new phone several hours to provision but for many its only 10 minutes.

Just wait until 5pm when everyone is off from work, and going to the store to pickup/active the phone.. It will be even slower, I can imagine..

Gonna drive by a few Sprint stores to check out the lines... maybe even flash my brandy-new EVO to stir things up... LOL!!!! (probably not... I might get jumped!!!)

Yeah it took them 40 mins to activate mine, it was cool though they had sprint reps there walking around showing off some of the phones features.

I have an appointment at 8pm later tonite to pickup and activate my evo. Anyone think the sprint network will be less clogged by then? I hope i'm one of the last people to pick it up, today. Have to take my dad in with me since the account is under his name. Hopefully it won't be a huge hassle. Any tips in case they can't get it activated in the store? Should it go quicker since I'm adding a new line to get the evo?

so can anyone here beat my 3+ hour activation/upgrade time? literally from a little after 8 am to a little after 11 am to have them activate my phone. mind you this is not waiting in line. actually activating my phone.
