After nearly five years use I have been finding on that some days battery usage is starting to struggle towards the end of the day. Realised it is always the two days I work a long shift as a delivery driver. Some experimentation and it seems that it is the constant switching between phone masts that is the big player in this and that switching to Airplane Mode while out driving on makes a huge difference.
As a control I valiantly spend many hours in the pub with the phone locked to the same mast and the same wi-fi hotspot and on those occasions the state of the battery holds up a lot better - a lot better than my state of sobriety as well!
Am I really onto something here or am I wandering up the garden path? I hardly ever get a phone call and texts and messages I can catch up with at lunch or after work so would not be missing out on that front. Or is it the gods of technological advancement giving me a nudge that along with the loss of security updates it is time to get a newer phone?
