Facebook for MyTouch 4G account - problems anyone?

I was having trouble with my Facebook account so I removed the account from my MyTouch 4G. BIG MISTAKE. Now I cannot re-add it. Whenever I try to log in, I get an error that says, "This service is currently unavailable. Do you want to try again?" Of course I do! My contacts have disappeared! Major inconvenience.

I have everything enabled on Facebook that should allow HTC to have access (per this article here: Re: Pre-loaded Facebook app won't connect - T-Mobile MyTouch 4G - Android Forums - HTC Community) but I still cannot connect. I saw some articles about this from about 6 months ago. Anyone having the issue now?

Definitely! I just thought it was such a silly fix that no one else would be interested!

HTC Support had me clear the data on the Facebook and Facebook for MyTouch 4G applications.
(Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > click on them and then "clear data")

After that they had me reboot the phone and then I was able to re-add my account and log back in! So happy. Hope it helps someone else!
