Fascinate Froyo Speculation and Rumors

I really thought this would have been merged into the thread Gunner linked. Guess I'm 0 for 1 in my new game. Not the way to start out :(

EDIT- Thank you moderator for making a prophet out of me. It's a cheap win, but a win none the less. 1 for 1 :)

im sure the maidorator is just taking a nap.

Haha! I just updated my previous post again. I got confused and thought the thread had already been moved. I guess that's what I get for still being at the office at this hour trying to get caught up and multitask by doing my usual stuff in the forums :p

yo guys, I sent one of the moderators a message asking him to merge the threads. Sorry again.

No worries. You'll get the hang of it in no time. Check back one page to post #172 by Gunnermike53 and click the link in that post. I guess that would have to be the latest news on the official Froyo release for the Fascinate. Besides you helped me develop a new game with which to entertain myself :p

EDIT - Hey and look at that. Because of this I just gave you your first "Thanks"

Thanks, and thanks for the thanks. I just really hate being that guy...

EDIT: I read that post on XDA. It's comical. Maybe by the end of the year they can work it out...

So....

IF/WHEN VZW releases a Froyo OTA... do you all plan on flashing back to stock in order to use the official update? Or is there really no point with all the rooted modifications done to the phone?

Just curious as to what most of you all think... i'm still fairly new at the all of this, so would just like to get opinions as to what to do IF the update ever makes it to us OTA.

Thanks guys!

Hey, I have no doubts they will have it worked out by the end of the year. Verizon promised they would have Froyo for the Fascinate released by the end of 2010. Oh, you were referring to the end of 2011...I see what happened there :D

Not speaking for anyone else, but I don't see a point to going back to stock if they ever do an OTA update. I would just root, debloat and change everything all over again. The SC builds are great IMHO and going to stock might just be a step backwards. It definately would be more work for me than worth....

I use my phone for business and can't afford to have any issues with it. How stable, buggy, and secure are the superclean and other roms? My phone HAS to work and i dont have time to update every couple of days. Any suggestions? Or should I just continue to wait for the official 2.2 ?

Take the plunge. Been rooted and flashing for onky about 3 weeks and could not be happier. This site has excellent developers ans mods. They have put together some very easy to follow threads. I do suggest to spend a little time and do some reading... especially the stickies. But overall... you will be more than pleased.

To be honest, when and if Verizon releases froyo....I'm not sure I will even upgrade. My phone is fine and does exactly what I need it to do.

the superclean rom will ALWAYS run smoother and faster than a stock rom. back up what you need to, and then flash superclean 2.9 with odin. you will need to do a data and a cache wipe. it really couldnt be easier. if your still apprehensive, maybe we can arrange a time when you and i both have an hour or so to be online at the same time and i can walk you through it. but i think if you read up first you wont have any problems.

Hey pizzadude, did you see that a Hawks fan just hit the "thanks" button for a Flyers fan? My hand was shaking the whole time because of the internal conflict :p

Superclean 2.9 is the most stable ROM I have had so far. I've been doing my best Gunnermike53 impersonations and flashing the hell out of this ROM with different themes, patches, and goofy combinations testing out different things to find solutions to a few pesky problems that had bothered me in the past, and I have not had one force close, random reboot, lockup, or any other kind of problem with 2.9.

And I agree with everyone, there will be no need to upgrade to the official Froyo release because what we have now is probably already superior to whatever VZW will put out. And if you think this is good, just wait until you see how good the custom ROMs are going to be once the indie devs get their hands on the original source code. I have just two words to say - UNDERVOLTED KERNELS :D

Oooh, thanks for reminding me. I haven't checked the OP over at XDA to see if kaos has updated his progress as to what is working now, and what is still not working. Also curious to see what all the buzz is about CM7.

I already tried to root with doird x con step by step and it was taking way to long to download the files, so i just gave up. I am new to flashing roms and all of that, and am scared of bricking my phone, like i said have to use it for work and can't afford to be a tester
