Fast charging not working.

I was also having this issue. Unfortunately my issue was not a loose USB. And for the record there is NO fast charging setting to enable. It is now automatic. My USB port in the phone somehow cracked. It will still charge but slowly. It will no longer connect to Gear VR or data to the PC. So get a flashlight and magnifying glass and check your port for damage or gunk before you give up.O

My friend had the same issue with hers, and I was texting her trying to figure it out. Everything found just seemed to say make sure it's plugged in all the way. So I plugged mine in halfway into the block and plugged into my s6 and it said cable charging. Then pushed it all the way in still cable charging. Unplugged it a couple times still cable charging was like great I broke it. The. Came across a note 4 post guy was like unplug the block and disconnect the USB. Connect the usb into the block and them the block Into the wall then plug your phone in that ordsr and it'll work. I did it and my phone fast charger. No word on my friends lol I just bought her a wireless charging pad but seems its the blocks cause everythinf samsung posted "make sure it's plugged in all the way." I haven't had issues since and my phone fast charges screen on or off

The whole unplugging everything solved the problem for me. Thanks for the advice.

I see this is an older thread but wanted to chime in. I too was experiencing the same issue with the stock cable from my S6 Edge + purchased yesterday. Once I made sure the plug was fully seated in both the charger and the phone, it now Fast Charges.

I had the same problem and I was getting worried... but after reading this, I tried another USB cable with the Samsung adapter and it worked instantly. It went from 2 hours to 53 minutes... and it now says fast charging, screen on... VS cable charging. Bizarre indeed. Thanks all

I had same problem and rebooted my edge plus and it is fast charging now hope it's not a phone issue once you can go fast charge it's hard to use normal charger

Hi. In the wall plug there's always one big hole and a small one. There's the + and the - for the electricity. So try to reverse the plug to get the + with the +.... I tried it on my note 5 and it's working. Good luck!

Seriously, check to make sure the cable is pushed all the way into the charger. It needs to be pushed all the way in. Mine felt like it was in and my fast charging didn't work. When I took a second look, there was still room for the cable to be inserted, but it took a little more effort. It works fine now.

Hey thank you your advice worked. I unplugged the usb side that lead to the power brick and then plugged it in as hard as i could. Plugged charger side into phone and fast charging works again!!

I had the same problem in my s6edge plus. I done a factory data reset and the problem resolved.

I had a problem with it not fast charging on my Edge Plus - tried a different USB cable and it works flawlessly every time - problem seems to be in the supplier cable that comes with the phone.

This probably wont solve anyone's issues here but i thought i would add my story. Yesterday i finally went to my local Verizon store to see if they could solve my problem with fast charging. They tried using a different fast charger and USB cable and also restarted the phone. None of this worked. So after i got home i tried using a different USB cable (this hadn't worked before) and all of sudden it now works. Why, I have no idea but it did save me from doing a factory reset which was my next step. I also heard from the store that it is possible that some 3rd party apps are causing problems with the fast charging. My Verizon phone has a startup option that includes temporarily disabling 3rd party apps but that didn't work either. Anyway to make a long story short my fast charging is now working (how long i don't know). One last comment my battery stats have now gone crazy, showing 91% available and only 5 hours left. This is a not big deal to me because i seldom use it anyway.

I've had my edge for a few days now and everything has worked fine. Today however, fast charging is not working. Just went to plug it in and it said six hours until fully charged. Thought it was just because it was at 6% and need some more power or something to start the fast charge? Doesn't seem so. I tried different wall outlets and it's still not fast charging. I am using the charger that came with the phone. It's charging so incredibly slow. Please excuse the way I wrote this, I'm incredibly tired.

It happen to me during the weekend I forgot my charger at work and I have to used a different USB cable and now the item came to my office is notice the is not fast charging so I ask my coworker to borrow me his s6 and I plug it in to his phone and then I put it back to my and it works fine try some else see if it works good luck

the same here..I read your words..push the power button on it worked fast charging..back off and on again..cable charging..on the same setting I've changed nothing. .I think the problem the software..the first batch suks. .

Same thing happened! To all those who came here, at the end, to see a solution, here are the things you can do:

1. Make sure the usb cable is FULLY INSERTED in the charger. (This fixed it for most people here.)
2. Try replugging everything.
3. Try using a different usb cable
4. Try not using a power strip (although this may have no effect)
5. To enable fast charging, your phone, or at least, the screen, must be completely OFF
6. Some 3rd party apps may interfere with charging. Look some of them up, and uninstall if necessary.
7. Go to the store where you got it from. Bring your charger with you. They will be able to troubleshoot it.
8. Factory reset the phone (Unconfirmed)

Mine works when the screen is on, too. If that were the case, why would they bother making a notification for fast charging..... Would be kind of pointless if you could never see it!

bro im having the same problem with my galaxy s6 edge the fast charging stopped working and now when connected to pc the it only shows charging and the option of having mtp/ ptp also isn't showing n nor does fast charging work whole everything else works like voila... i thought there was a problem with the usb cable so i bought a couple of them and all of them all it did were charge and not fast charge.. if u have by chance solve dur problem please help me out and if not what did you do? also try this *#0808# and chose ap and select mtp + abd if those arent selected it might solve your problem but if u have somhow solved ur problem please help this brother going throught the same hell as you

Holy crap! I was freaking out this morning because I only got about 32% charge in 85min. Saw this thread and sure enough.... cable wasn't plugged in all the way. DOH!!!! Thanks for the tip.... I like it when there is a low tech solution.
