I have been trying to find a thread that would tell me the best way to make my DX fast without rooting the phone. I am someone who can not afford to "brick" a phone, so I am trying to steer away from rooting. I am however someone who wants to get the most out of it. What apps, settings, etc. do you suggest chaninging to give us nonrooters the best experience out there. Thank you in advance to all of you amazing Droid users who can point us amateurs in the right direction.

New home. Get launcherpro. That will speed up your app tray and home screens. Without rooting to run other roms and delete junk and also over clock I don't know much more you can do. The launcherpro will deff make a difference.

I appoligize because I do not know of anything that will help besides rooting and putting a custom rom on your DX. Trust me, I am just like you. I read everything and see the benefits of rooting but I was too scared to do so. Check out the Roms section of this forum. It is great. Rooting your phone is about as easy as it gets. I believe a new application just came out that will root for you. Nothing to worry about. Also putting a rom on couldn't be safer if you create a nandroid backup.
Please go for it. I tried everything and still saw annoying lag till I loaded a "blurless" rom.

spare parts + launcher pro. use spare parts to increase animation and transition speeds. rooting/unrooting is so easy now though with z4root, no reason not to do it. srsly.

I find Zeam to be faster than LauncherPro. I used it for a few weeks and didn't have any complaints in terms of speed. It just doesn't have as many options, such as custom docks and icons or the ability to hide apps in the app drawer.
Yeap LP+ for sure helped mine and I'm not rooted.
Spare Parts shows your stats but don't see how that pgm would add any speed.same as *#*#4636#*#*
