Finally!! 6.0 OTA

I'm not about to lose all my media just to see if that works nor should I or any of us be forced to resort to such extreme measures.

The same with flashing, the entire point of a nexus device is that you get the latest greatest android goodness right away without the need for rooting or anything like that.

I was so excited to finally have a nexus and it's been a dream but now I feel kind of like I've been. Galaxy Nexused.

You know, the nexus that wasn't a real nexus and never got any updates?

I could understand if this was on a vz sim but for the love of God its t-mobile, you know the good guys?

Why you gotta play me like this tmo?

I spent years trapped in vz he'll yearning for the fresh air of liberty you promised and yet now I feel as if I have been betrayed.

Must I seek solace in the arms of fi in order to get straight, uninterrupted ota updates?

I hear a lot of people having to resort to weird measures to get this ota. Hopefully now since all the builds are unified under MRA58K or whatever the build number is should help. I flashed fresh factory images on day 1, I don't mind restarting my phone from time to time, but I get the frustration people are feeling. All the different builds prob had something to do with it.

Got the update on T-Mobile last night. Doesn't seem to be a very big deal. I played around with it some last night and it seems to be mostly a behind the scenes update. The physical look and feel is pretty much the same. Hopefully those behind the scenes improvements are worth the fuss.....

Got the update on T-Mobile last night.

It's not clear what T-Mobile is up to at this point. According to their "Software updates" page, the Nexus 6 6.0 update is still in "testing."

On the other hand, they've rolled back the information on their "Software versions & updates: Google Nexus 6" page in entirely the wrong direction, erasing all mention of both LYZ28M and the 6.0 update.

I finally broke down and tried pulling the sim. Nothing.

To hear that someone on tmo got ota last night just makes it worse.

Google rolls out ota over 2-3 weeks and what if tmo decides to do the same?

Are tmo users in for that long of a wait?

I swear it's almost enough to drive a man to drink😉

No clue at all. So far after 1/2 a day at work battery life seems to be slightly better? WiFi calling works like it did on 5.1.1. The only other noticeable change is the do not disturb option. on 5.1.1. I use to just hit power up or down and then it popped up and I could pick my do not disturb option. Now when hit power up or down all you can do is control the volume up or down. You have to actually pull down the menu and get to it from there. Once do not disturb is activated when you hit power up and down it does give you the option to cancel right away..

Unlike other updates that make the phone seem like it's a brand new device but for the most part with this update everything seems to be pretty much exactly like 5.1.1 again appears the mass majority of the changes are in the background.

Hopefully my 6p ships next week as scheduled.....

I tried it again and it worked.

I try all the phones. N6 is the best phone on the market Imo the only complaint you could have is if you don't like the size(which I love).

koam, I agree that things are not always as obvious as we think they may be, but I restored without my sim and am currently downloading 6. Just sayin'.

But did you come from the LMY48W build?

I'm not 100% sure. I got an update pushed last week that I thought would be 6. It urned out to be a different version of 5.1.1.

that is a security update, most likely. what is your build ID?

I used NRT to backup, unlock, flash Marshmallow, and root. It took me a couple of hours....first timer. worked great!

I also just used NRT to flash my Nexus 7 back to 4.4.4. so far so good!

Not gonna do it, shouldn't have to.

couldn't agree with the sentiment more! new to the android/google/nexus realm. have had my nexus 6 (lvy48h) for less than a week. using it with an at&t sim. none too eager to engage the sideload process and have tried a number of other tactics in hopes of getting the marshmallow upgrade. finally (today) pulled the sim, did a factory reset and there it was! so, as much as I agree that one shouldn't have to, seems a good way to get the update now!
