Finally!! 6.0 OTA

Not so enamored with the Nexus experience anymore. Still don't have 6.0 OTA on VZW. My MXPE has had the new play store for about a week now, nothing new on my N6. May get 6.0 on it before the N6 too. WTF?

Vzw is Always the agonizing last for OTA. All sorts of ROMs /kernels, - - - stock, enhanced for 6.0 are available for the flashing. The real Nexus experience is not having to wait for carrier's glacially slow procedures to deliver the new Android versions. The real Nexus experience is unlocking bootloader, installing custom recovery and flashing roms. I'm on Verizon and have been enjoying Marshmallows for weeks now. WTF? Take the plunge! Live a little!

My only wish is that Google had a process in place for those of us who went all in on the Google ecosystem and bought a Chromebook. Basically SOL since I don't have access to a Mac or PC to sideload with.

^ This. No kidding. :-/

I really like the idea of the Chromebook, but in practice, it doesn't work very well as the only computer in the house. The battery life is awesome, and it's fine for about 90% of day-to-day usage, but there are too many situations I've run into that require either Windows or OSX. It's better as a cheap secondary machine.

Yep, that's how I use mine. Chromebook for day to day stuff, PC when I need to do PC stuff.

Marshmallow OTA Update?

I think Google forgot about me. I'm still waiting. 😥😥

Re: Marshmallow OTA Update?

I've watched multiple video's and read many articles on side loading. I have the software on my pc to do it. But every time I try and sideload updates, it doesn't work.

Re: Marshmallow OTA Update?

Some users even reported that with a factory reset you may force a OTA update once you set up the device.

Re: Marshmallow OTA Update?

I own 2 Nexus devices and I'm always last to receive updates from google. Both my devices have yet to receive 6.0. I don't expect them to for at least another 2 weeks.

Re: Marshmallow OTA Update?

No Marshmallow OTA on my N6 (AT&T) or my kids N7 (2013) as well.

My wife's N5 and our NPlayer updated to Marshmallow weeks ago.

Yep, I downloaded the OTA zip, Minimal ADB and fastboot, followed all the directions From XDA, DroidLife, and AC, correlated the information to make sure they all said the same thing. Followed the directions, and it could not read the zip file . downloaded 2 different OTA's and got a could not read zip. My first time ever tinkering, usually wait for OTA. My 5.1 OTA took 8 weeks. 5.1.1 took 3 days. Security patch took 8 days. It's all over the place waiting. Tried using Nexus Root Toolkit which will sideload OTA's, had every version of 5.1.1 except the T version I have with verizon, so I couldn't use it without being sure

Re: Marshmallow OTA Update?

I was getting the cannot read file error when trying to sideload as well. The problem I ended up having was that I named the file "otaupdate.zip". It caused a problem because the file was already in zip format. I had to just change the name of the file to "otaupdate" and drop the .zip. Everything worked flawlessly after that.

Hope that info can help.

Did you get it on the first try? I pulled the sim and did a FDR and did not get anything. Nexus 6 (Unlocked, Verizon)

For what its worth, I am still on 5.1.1 with ATT. Do you guys think if I switch over to Project Fi with Google these updates will come right away? Ive been thinking about trying it out anyway, and if these updates do come immediately that would just be a plus.
