Fingerprint Sensor Disappointing

Physical fingerprint sensors were so instant and flawless, it's mind-boggling why companies replace such solid features with gimmicky alternatives. Plus spend all the R&D money on it driving the phone costs higher.

It's where we are at the moment. We've peaked at a lot of things so they invent new ways of doing old things. Some for the better, some not so much.

I mean it's obvious why we no longer have the physical fingerprint at least in the front. I use to wish it was at the back, but for me front is superior as a lot of times I don't pick up my phone to use it. It's normally stationary on a table so I'm able to unlock do what I need and lock it back all without having to pick the device up.

really missing the senor on my note 8, the 20 takes forever to get unlocked and im almost never perfectly on the sensor. Does anyone have an AOD wallpaper that maybe has a circle or something?

Mine is terrible on my S20. But I have terrible fingerprints that didn’t work well on the first couple of generations of iPhone fps either. I absolutely love this phone, otherwise.

This is the option you're looking for. Just look for it in the fingerprints settings.

I hated the sensor on the 10 but it was fantastic on the 10e (in the power button)... I also loved the sensor in the power button on the Xperia X1C....

The sensor on the S20 is okay I guess but I am still trying to get it to work consistently...

Yea I liked that they put the fps on the power button for the S10e and wondered why they didn't do it for all S10s, but guess the curved screen had something to do with it even though that doesn't really make sense lol.

It always works for me. On my S10 plus it was just about perfect too. I like the placement better on the S20 models. It's in a more natural area.

I got a note 10+

I have done everything.
I'm still having problems with the FPS.
For what the phone cost.
We shouldn't be having these kind of problems.
The FPS should be on the back of the phone so you can open it with one hand.
Like I. The note 9. Which is in the center of the back of the phone.

I've had the 1TB S10+ and 2 Note 10+ and this ultra FPS is somewhat better than these past 2 phones.

I had a ton of problems with the past models but this one I can live with. It's not perfect but is usable.

Ask yourself.
For what the phone cost, why should you have the problem ? Samsung should know they have the problem and fix it.

Mine works probably 99.9% of the time. Its maybe failed on me twice.

Device in, device out and we continue to talk about Samsung's fps. It proves this technology is not good and needs to be urgently improved or abandoned. I have a Note 10+ and this crap only began to work when I was almost forced to abandon the use of screen protectors in it. Only then it became usable. And only USABLE, nowhere near something that could cost that much. Just usable. And now, as I had to stop using screen protectors to be able to use this thing, I have a lot of micro scratches on my screen, which already dropped considerably the reseller value of this gadget, even for Samsung - yes, they noted the marks and tried to devalue it when I consulted about a possible exchange for a S20.

So, sorry to who defends, but this thing is simply not good enough. If it was, we wouldn't be here talking about it again and again. Big fail by Samsung. More secure? Maybe, when it works, it is. Problem is to making it works...

I beg to differ. Someone will always complain about something like the headphone jack. It was bound to happen Samsung kept it around for years after others and yet still the back lashed ensued. It's clear we all have different experiences and opinions. Just another reminder that there is no such thing as perfect tech.

Some people used the headphone jack to plug a Guitar into.

Cause you dont use it. Don't mean a lot of other folks didnt.

Can a dongle not provide the same thing? I highly doubt that a vast amount of people were doing that with the headphone jack. Never did I say it didn't have a use just said that it was inevitable even though they tried to hold off for many years. Hell I'm still upset at them taking the ir blaster away
