Performed the update to android 4.2.2 today received OTA from Samsung.

Did not notice any improvement of battery life. In fact I think the battery life is shortened after the update.

I noticed a bug: the keyboard does not change to pen input when the pen is detached after the appropriate setting is checked.

Welcome to the forums!
Other than what you have said, how are you liking the update?

The Samsug modified apps Contacts, S-Planner and Email got an interface lift. I think this is an improvement.

The Touchwiz interface is now closer to the Galaxy S4 version with some exceptions (e.g. no multiple widgets on the lock screen).

May be the handwriting recognition is improved a little bit but I am not sure about that.

I don't think the device is faster. And after 48 hours of testing l do not notice or longer battery life.

On the other hand l was satisfied with the previous firmware version. And l liked the device from the beginning. l often use the pen.

Go to setting, language, keyboard, uncheck Google Keyboard, check Samsung keyboard and off you go.

I did some digging and it looks like the WiFi version of the note is NOT getting the 4.2.2 update but instead some freebies whatever those will be.

Any links to this information? that would be a shame.

Sammobile.com doesn't report any such info. In fact, they posted a couple weeks ago that the 4.2.2 update for the North American LTE and WiFi versions was coming in a few more weeks (international and 3G versions already have it, and there is a leaked 4.2.2 version for WiFi versions floating around for rooted users).

Just wondering, if I missed the OTA update, becuase I became offline,, would the OTA update retarget my device soon?????

I updated to the leaked wifi version several weeks ago. Other than a slightly tweaked UI and few small features AND a massive increase in RAM usage by the OS you arent missing much.
