My initial impressions:
The FPS seems so much better to me than the 10+ was - but I wonder how much of that is because I just installed my Whitestone Dome and registered my prints. My past experience on my 10+ was that it would would well, but then a week later, it won't be as responsive. I think also, my fingers may be the culprit. I recall whenever I get my fingers printed with ink, it usually has to be done multiple times.
The camera punch out is actually smaller than the 10+. The back cameras are not bothersome to me considering I have a case that makes me not even notice the hump. That said, I also have Spigen Thin Armor and the Neo Hybrid as well, and those cases will have the hump protruding. Believe it or not, I think I might actually like a hump because I notice my index finger when I hold the phone feels like it's searching for something to latch on to, and without the hump - my finger goes right to the periscope camera instead. I know, weird.
I need to get used to the S Pen on the other side.. I have a feeling this was put on the other side due to the periscope camera taking up space.
Whitestone Dome is great so far. I also put a glass protector on my back camera because I got paranoid. I do not know if I will keep it, but I will experiment with it to see if picture quality is degraded since the glass covers the cameras themselves which I am not a fan of.
I have to admit that the 120hz does make a difference. I thought it was going to be no big deal and it certainly isn't a deal breaker for me, but seeing it in just the launcher animations and scrolling is pretty amazing. I don't have a problem using FHD since that is what I always used. Yeah, sucks that QHD doesn't have it but even if it did, I'd still be using FHD anyway. The screen is beautiful as usual from Samsung.
No issues with the buttons on the other side. I think it was finally done this way because they realize that when people watch videos in landscape on a stand, it made changing the volume a hassle since majority of people watch landscape with the cameras to the left.
The SIM card tray is still made of plastic. I don't know why Samsung doesn't make this metal considering you press the SIM card and SD card into it. I had one of these break on me with my S6edge and your phone is kaput with no SIM card until you fix it. It's such a fragile piece of plastic.
I don't even know if 5GTE works because it doesn't exist in NYC. Just "5G"...
Speakers sound like they are a little louder than my 10+, but if not louder, definitely richer in sound. However, I still don't think it matches the speakers in the iPhone.. Somehow, the speakers in iPhones sound really rich and you can notice some bass even with those tiny speakers - whereas Samsung speakers are certainly loud and even louder but just not as rich when I listen to them. But good that I think there is an improvement in these speakers in the N20U.
That's all I have for now - just initial observations. So far, I love the phone. I guess more will come out as I use it and finish setting it up.
I will also add my voice that one that that is very disappointing is indeed the nickle and diming by Samsung with the Note series. No headphones (I know you can call them allegedly), no pen tips and therefore no pen tip extractor, no USB-C to USB-A adapter, flimsy 2 piece plastic film (remember when the whole phone was wrapped), what else did I miss? I guess it's a bit of principle here consider what we pay for. I know so many people said that they never use the headphones anyway, so it wasn't a big deal - but then look at everyone planning on calling Samsung to get them anyway. It's really the principle and we paid a lot. The Samsung excuse of people not using them anyway is bogus if you don't give value added back to the consumer. Also, I guess by people they meant the US only??
I feel like they are getting lazy. First of all, enough with all these variations of what someone gets out of the box depending on what countries they are in. Everything from CPU, to what's included in the box. When you have a conversation about the phone with someone, it's weird that the other person could have a completely different experience from you. I find this part the most annoying thing of all.
Anyway, back to the phone. The last vent had little to do with the phone but more Samsung philosophy itself. I'm enjoying it but now work gets in the way of me finishing setting it up.
Again - I really love what I see and very happy with it thus far! I'm sure I'll have lots more opinions on this as I discover them.
