For real this time too: EC10 kernels

Never flash a non-voodoo kernel over a voodoo kernel... things will get wonky. You need to follow the proper steps to get back to a non-voodoo set up. Check out gunnermike's how to voodoo thread for details and info.

Well I have never flashed a different kernel since I put the Deodexed/Debloated version of EB01. So can I still flash the non-voodoo kernel over this version or do I need to be on super clean?

try this:

open terminal emulator
at $ prompt type "su" then <ENTER> key

device should then be granted superuser permissions and you will get # prompt. if you don't have # prompt, then su permissions have not been granted.

at # prompt type (exactly) "cat /proc/version" [make sure you type a <SPACE> in between "cat" and /proc/version"]

hit <ENTER> key

you should get "Linux version ..... blah blah blah"

with adb, terminal emulator, et al, you have to be precise with your commands/syntax or stuff won't work.

:p

Didn't work, but thanks for trying.

i dont think you NEED a newer version of superclean, but why the heck not. all that extra bloat.

let me put it this way. im 5'9. in july of 2010 i weighed 240 lbs. now i weigh 150 lbs. as you can imagine, its easier to get around now. i can walk (well im acutally running now) farther, longer and i get tired less.

translate that to your phone. superclean has less bloat (stupid crap vzw insists on cramming into our phones), less running at a time means faster rom that uses less battery.

Daaaang! That is awesome, dude! Congrats on the lifestyle change! Very very impressive.

So, if i got this right, Stock Verizon FASN8 is Gunnermike July 2010. SuperFrankenClean 2.9.1 voodoo style rockin' the latest EC10 kernel is Gunnermike March 2011. :)

:p

Has anyone else had an issue with Launcher Pro locking up with this new kernel? The first time I booted with the new kernel everything looked fine initially and then I got a black screen. Rebooted again and Launcher Pro was really slow to get going and gave me an error message. I'll try rebooting one more time and see how it does.
-----------------
Follow up: Third time was NOT the charm. I'll change it to ADW Launcher and reboot again and see if that makes a difference.
Follow up #2: Not right with stock launcher, either. Hmmm...
Follow up #3: I put the previous EB16 kernel back on and still have the same issue. The only thing that has changed about my phone today was I installed the Amazon App store and their free version of Angry Birds Rio. Maybe the problem is not with the kernel?

When I connect to Wi-Fi my phone FC's then reboots.

I'm using EC10. Anyone else have had that happen to them?

Not me... all features are working flawlessly for me... dang.. I shouldn't have said that out loud...

Hmmm.

Can you describe the exact steps you are taking, the error message and when it happens?

su (enter)
now I see a #

I type in cat /proc/version (with the space)
then I hit ENTER
Then I get an error; /proc: invalid length
/version: No such file or directory

Psh, I prefer to smother mine with nacho cheese, at least that way I have nachos afterwards.

oh! or you could use your burning phone to toast marshmallows, then make smores.... mmmm smores

Deodexed/Debloated is an EB01 build. All of the supercleans since 2.0 have all been EB01 builds. So it would make sense they should work on deodex/debloat.

The new kernel isn't working for me (yet) so here are the marshmallows roasting on my phone:

Yeah you are good. I along with Mike would suggest going ahead and trying out SuperClean though. Adyrnalyne takes good care of us over here. The Voodoo/NonVoodoo warning was for the other guy, who according to his device info is running a voodoo kernel.

Happy Flashing!

I reinstalled the kernel I was using before (EB16 nonvoodoo). Uninstalled the Amazon App Store that I installed an hour or so ago in case it was causing a problem, booted into recovery, cleared Davlik and cache, rebooted, and still have a Launcher Pro error. Eventually it works but it has some kind of glitch. Any ideas?

Yup - I'm "the other guy", I was just wanting to know how many commenters on the ec10 kernel were voodoo versus non-voodoo. I just forgot to read the last part of the quote I used which had a different question in it.

Then I get an error; /proc: invalid length
/version: No such file or directory

I get those errors when I do this:

"cat /proc" <ENTER> --answer: "/proc: invalid length"
"cat /version" <ENTER> --answer: "/version: No such file or directory"

but not when I type "cat /proc/version" <ENTER>

If you typed it correctly then it appears you don't have the /proc/version "file" which suggests you are on a different build and not SC2.9.1, with the EC10 kernel.

This corresponds with your User CP details which say "DL30", if true you might consider going to SC 2.9.1; Adrynalyne's latest and greatest is clean and tweaked nicely - I highly recommend it.
