Force Google search widget to open in chrome

Rubbing oreo on the pixel, is there a way to make the search widget at the top of the home screens open links in chrome? I am not a fan of the limited view and losing my results when going back.

Tap the G, turns into a hamburger menu, tap that to open the sidebar, settings. Accounts and privacy, turn off open web pages in app.
