They are not going to announce the iPad. Their twitter page, yesterday, said something to the effect of "who has the best voice coverage? Check back tomorrow." The iPad is not a voice product!!

Your husband is correct the Voice Over was done by Harry Shearer same voice of Mr. Burns on the Simpsons. Wiki also list:

I know this is a bit off subject, but reading that just made me think of the episode where Homer, Moe, Skinner, and Apu become volunteer fire fighters and save Rainier.

Not to burst your bubble... but they're going to be releasing some numbers around call reliability done by a third party survey/measurement company. It has nothing to do with a new device.

I don't know, they can still play this into an announcement pretty easily. Mentioning this first is a perfect segue into talking about how Verizon is about to get even better and then announcing a new device that takes advantage of the upgraded LTE network.

Possibly. But that's a pretty thin association since LTE is a data network and not a voice network. It's like saying "We have the most reliable phones in the industry." and then jumping over to how they're changing customer service.
