Lollipop Hotspot, no root or flashing needed | Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 4 | XDA Forums

I take no credit but this works. Dont even bother calling sprint for your msl number they say its against regulations. Screw that go on chat with sprint.com and ask for your msl number. They will give it to you without hesitation and the. Follow these instructions on this link and wallllaaa I have a hot spot on my Sprint Note 4 and have connected my Nexus 7 and Ipad and it works. I tried Netflix and Internet and even downloaded a couple of apps. It works also works without rooting your device.

I tried asking for my msl number through chat with sprint.com and they said that they couldn't help me with it. I even tried telling them that I was going out of the country and I needed the number so I can use my phone overseas. They still wouldn't provide me the number. Do anyone else know a way to get it?

I did it via Sprint chat and when they asked all I told them was having an issue with my GPS and i needed the MSL to reset it. Once i said that they told me no problem.

I know this is an old thread, but has anyone been charged for this? This still works but I'm worried about it popping up on my bill.

Yes has anyone got warned by sprint for this? Or does it go undetected? I want to try it but I'm nervous

There's a link to an app in the thread OP linked to that is safe. You don't need root and it works well. I used it for my Note 3 and my Note 4. Download from there, not an internet search. It's all over the place, but you do not know who's adding what to them. If I can find the link again I'll be back. Otherwise just read the linked thread. It's there.

Okay. Sorry. Reports are it doesn't work for Lollipop. :( Depending on your OS version you could downgrade to KitKat, use the utility, get your msl, and then go back to Lollipop. That's assuming you want to. The version from Sprint that you can downgrade from is this one:

N910PVPU1BOB7 03/05/2015

Android 5.0 Lollipop
Wi-Fi Calling Enhancements

That's the 5.0 straight up - no other numbers. You can then downgrade, but only if you were on this one before the update:
N910PVPU1ANK2 12/09/14
VR software support

Note - requires flashing in ODIN and root is not necessary. That said, I've not done it because I'm staying on KK4.4.4 for many, many reasons.

I just did this and it works like a champ, both the GPS excuse and the instructions to get the hotspot working. I then verified my hotspot by connecting my notebook through my Galaxy Note 4 to some web pages! BOOYAH!

I did this on my s6 and it worked perfect. But i had my head up my butt and did a over the air system update. Tried again with my msl and it wont let me change my apn setting now so im screwed. Anyone know if the update gave me a different msl or did the update make it where i can do it this way again?
