Froyo and Docks. Does the 3.5mm output work for you?

@all, try this patch provided by HAAS559 which I converted to use in CWM3.

Car_Cradle_Patch (Flash in CWM3)

Report back please and let me know if it works...

I just tried it during my lunch break and it does work. It is actually a whole new car dock app called "Car Cradle".

It is a newer version of Samsung's "Car Home" app that I posted earlier. It adds a music player icon and a couple buttons on the top right. One for brightness and one for AUDIO OUT THROUGH USB!!!!!. I know, amazing right?

You can use the feature with other apps by pressing the home button from the car cradle app and launching another app (pandora, media hub, doggcather, etc.)

Why this app is not on the market I have no idea.

edit: I am using TER v1.5, Genocide Kernel 0.2

I just flashed this and its not working... It installed the app, and I see the audio btn but its not changing the audio to the usb? I'm trying this on the desk dock. Does that make a differance?

First post. I get a lot of great info off this site. Thanks

This bug has been reported they are going to release a new desk home app after a while at least thats what samsung told me

I would like to say that the CW3 version of the patch worked for me. I am running Midnight Rom 2.9 over EB13 with the car dock. Car app launches and the upper right audio button (which at first I thought was a mute button) sends the audio through the usb just fine. Thanks to everyone who figured all that out!

Now if we could get a way to edit the links of that app to put in the programs I actually use in the car :p

That would be nice but what I have been doing is not setting a default for the car dock which lets me get out of the app without stopping the audio out.

So when I dock the phone I select car cradle form a popup and startup the audio out. I can then press home with takes me to my homescreen where I have a shortcut to Custom Car Home. Everything I do is sent through audio out. It won't go back to speaker until I undock the phone. When I redock it, I get the popup again and repeat the process.

Main thing is to have any 2 car dock apps installed on your phone which causes Car cradle to not be the default default. Just never check the box to remember what your default is and you can always exit car cradle by pressing home and keep it working.

I downloaded the file and went to install the apk but it tells me that the application will not install. I did make sure to allow apps not from the market. Just running stock froyo from manual update. Any suggestions?

I simplified the docking procedure a little bit.

I use custom car home and have it set as default.

When the phone docks the app loads instantly and I made an activity shortcut on the main screen for Car Cradle>CarCradle.Main.

I can now quickly press the shortcut and then the home button and I'm all set. I dont have to mess with the choose app popup and I can delete the CCH icon from my main homescreen.

Samsung Epic Desktop Multimedia Dock Still Working After Install Froyo

Has anyone got the Samsung Desktop Dock to work? By work, I mean the audio out. Thought this was suppose to be fixed in 2.2. I installed the Samsung update for 2.2 and this seems to be the only problem I have seen so far.

Yes but only works when Samsung Desk Dock software is running. This means you have to start something like Slacker, then start the dock software. I was hoping to use for movies on the plane, but I don't see how that would work. I'm disappointed. Believe my friend's DroidX dock worked fine from day one.

Edit: I played with it some more after Andrew Ruffolo's encouragement. If I start youtube, then put it in the dock, hit mute to direct sound out the port, then use a long press on home to bring up recent apps, I was able to get video with audio out of the dock.

I haven't tried the desktop audio port yet, but I got the car dock to work for a media hub movie. Had to start music then switch to video but it worked for video.

I have the latest Samsung version of Desk Home app, but still no audio to earplugs when plugging into the audio out on the dock. Audio continues to play through the phone speaker.
Even tried uninstalling Desk Home app and reinstalling it after upgrading to EB13.

On the desk home app you have to hit the button that looks like audio mute. Does that work?

Thanks, hitting the audio mute did it. Now have audio through earplugs.
But did notice if I plug in the power cord to the dock while listening on the earplugs there is a lot of static. Unplug power cord and sound is clear.
Thanks again.

Sounds like grounding issue - which may be house or may be outlet - try a different outlet and/or a different physical address.

Try Updating App

There is an update available from android central that allows you to update the docking app. Works perfectly.
