Froyo DK28 is out for EPIC

so far so good with 2.2. Three things that I noticed are:
1) No GPS response. I repeat No GPS. I tried the *#142365# & nothing. any recommendations???
2) The "Alarm Clock" is now labeled "Clock." Well I failed to double check this after updating and my daily alarms were erased. I noticed this after waking up late this morning. :(
3) Qik was finally working (fingers crossed) :D. I had MAJOR problems w/Qik working on 2.1 (i.e., it rarely connected).

Other than that - It's pretty good. I haven't tried the music player, but will test today. If GPS is the only issue, I think that I will keep 2.2 until the official release.

Repeat GPS problems, email is slow, ThinkFree Office is broke, stated error when loading. Tried DocsToGo, but need to buy $15 program to open pdf files that loaded under old free ThinkFree Office.

So going on vacation, GPS Navigation programs won't work, and can't read business emails while traveling.

Thinking about trying to figure out how to revert to 2.1. These are things I need.
Most programs are zippier, nice to rearrange dock, but not worth what I lost. And it took me a day to get here . . .

I had gps troubles too, what i did was revert back to 2.1, sign in to google nav, get a gps lock, LEAVE GPS ON, then turn off my phone, recovery reboot to 2.2 and you should be good to go.

I now agree...no issues...my only issue was with contacts not updating.
Turns out I had 1,600 contacts and after about 2 hours they all were imported correctly...plus sent items shows the "to" address now.
100% here.

Touchdown is requiring a force close often. This build is not stable for Touchdown. I hope I can get a manual update for the OTA update when it is released.

Can anyone else confirm this? I'm thinking of purchasing Touchdown and would like to know this. The built-in Exchange mail is meh.

This is random, but maybe someone knows what's up here: I have all my contacts who are friends with me on facebook connected on my phone so their status/pictures show up on my phone. I do this so I can get updated pictures of all of them and see their picture when they call. Now before Froyo this worked perfectly, however now their pictures show up in contacts, but when they call it acts as if I have no picture for them. I also am noticing that there are two different facebook "contacts" for everyone and if I add both then the picture works when they call. Its very confusing...

I went to 2.2 via the briefmobile link. How do I go back to 2.1? Is it just as easy as upgrading to 2.2? I'm a real newby at this & need the easiest (and most thorough step by step) directions possible. I looked at the directions of Odin and they seemed too complicated.

Please help. I would really like my GPS back.

TIA

To go back to 2.1, refer to this thread.

EDIT: Just noticed your comment about Odin. This is probably the simplest form of going back to 2.1 at this time, so I strongly suggest it. If you're confused about anything in the directions definitely feel free to ask.

i wish i had seen this post before writing my long winded explanation on how to fix gps haha :o

I looked over these directions http://forum.androidcentral.com/epic-4g-roms-hacks/47362-two-procedures-fix-gps-problems-froyo.html] and have a question.

With Procedure 1, I didn't use the Odin process. I used the briefmobile line to go to 2.2, and
With Procedure 2, I'm not rooted and don't know what the he11 ClockworkMod is.

Can I use this? If so, can anyone provide a link or step by step instructions to get back to 2.1 so I can hopefully get my GPS back?

The only issues I have really noticed is that the MultiMedia Dock still isn't multimedia (plugging in speakers to the speaker jack, it does not get audio output to it.) Also, if Gentle Alarm is running, it pops up instead of the Dock screen, which is fine by me as that is what I run anyway at night.

Apps to SD is great! Has freed up a lot of memory on my Epic.

Battery life overall seems a little better when good reception. If bad reception, then as always, it drains itself.

Interface is nicer, more colorful. Compared to WebOS, I always thought the Settings and Applications menu screens looked very beta-ish. Now looks like a commercial product in 2010 should look with COLOR, etc.

The myriad of little improvements to Messaging and Phone and Music apps is nice. Calendar still sucks compared to WebOS, which wasn't as good as PalmOS....

GPS I haven't tried yet.

Overall, I am also satisfied with it.

Anyone know what this is for (in red box)?? I've had it since installed the OTA version from google's servers...

Anybody having problems with the calendar app repeatedly crashing/force closing? I csnt access my calendar at all and it even crashes sometimes when im running other programs.

I have not... I use Pure Calendar to show/access & edit my calandar and no problems.

Don't have that on mine. Sounds like a ShootMe type app.

Do you think that this updated services app shows' related pieces of software' that the old version didn't? Like I have MakeSimDBService, SanService that I did not have before and I have not installed anything new.

Wasn't happy with Froyo (DK28) mainly because of the lack of a GPS fix. Other things looked pretty good (including ability to recalibrate the accelerometer in Settings). However, the fact that I used that utility (calibration) during the short time I was running Froyo has made my accelerometer completely NOT work after reverting back to DI18 (using Odin and .TAR for DI18). Now, I have an Eclair phone that won't switch between portrait & landscape (unless I pull the kb out...and once I do that, I can't get back to portrait even after closing kb).

Anyone in the same situation? I need my screen to switch!!

Something else in the leaked Froyo that wasn't quite right was the browser not re-aligning text after pinch/zoom/resizing. This was a true lesson in why NOT to jump on a leaked update, unless you're willing to spend the next week of your life hacking around blindly!! I did that for 2 years on my Blackberry...

Any help getting the Accelerometer back would be appreciated!
