Froyo ETA Set

Steps:

1.) Download update from here.
2.) Move update.zip to SD card.
3.) Power down X
4.) Press and hold the home button
5.) Press the power button - when X powers on release the power button but continue to hold the home key.
6.) When the triangle appears release the home button
7.) Press the search button
8.) Using the volume rocker move the cursor down to apply update.zip from sdcard
9.) press OK as many times as necessary through out the update.

When complete - it's my personal opinion that you should factory reset/wipe.

i'm getting an error (status 7)

Ah yes. If you're rooted and want to keep root. You will need to move the superuser file per his instruction.

after i click apply update.zip and then click okay. i think it's when it's verifying the file?

I get an error 7, failed assert check... Now its wiped but wont update at all... I've tried twice..

Sorry - I shouldn't have said that, or I should have worded it differently. When it booted up, with Froyo, everything sort of looks the same (except for the lock screen). It doesn't perform any faster and all the apps appear to be the same as well. However, there will definitely be some Froyo goodies that I will uncover as I play with it. Being able to install apps to the SD card is one of them. Testing flash is the next one.

downloaded it on my pc and then moved it to the root of sd.

i'm downloading it again and going to try that after it finishes. i'm hoping it was just a bad download....

I think the error 7 (assert failed) is due to how Koush's recovery hijacks logwrapper. I uninstalled Koush's recovery, but it still doesn't like the logwrapper. I think we need to find a untouched logwrapper and drop it in /system/bin
