G4 Pictures rotating after sharing/sending them?

If you look at the details of each photo taken with the lgg4, you'll see that the orientation tag is present. O° for horizontal and 90° for vertical.
The only fix I have found is to rotate the photo after taking it, save it, and then rotate it back and save. That way it looks correct on your phone and gets displayed properly when sent.

This is a reasonable workaround. I just edit the photo in Snapseed: rotate right, rotate left, save.

Lots of photo viewers and web browsers do not honor the orientation EXIF data. Even worse, some websites like Facebook remove the EXIF data.

In Facebook you can rotate photos and videos after you upload. In snapseed you can just save the photo... probably no need to rotate, rotate.

Thank you... Do you know if it takes advantage of the laser focus or colour sensor? Google camera does not...

Hmm... I don't know but I doubt it.

The quality is not as good, but it solves some basic usability issues.

I actually run both camera apps and decide on the fly which one to use. If you're out with friends and you're doing a lot of sharing, the portrait issue and the ability to set it to use lower res make Manual Camera a better option. On the other hand, if you're looking for quality above all else (travelling, etc) then the LG app is a better choice.

We should not need to work around anything. This is not acceptable

The problem is not the camera. The problem is the image viewer or web browser or web site that is hosting your image. It is no longer the 1990s.

All my previous phones have worked with all websites and apps, this one doesn't... The problem is with the phone.

It's not with the phone..because people that have the Galaxy S6 has the same issue. It is when you take a picture in portrait and then modify it and then post it...

Never had this rotation problem with previous phones, not to mention digital cameras. No reason we should be jumping through hoops and running windows moviemaker or any other program to flip or rotate pics and movies. And the lack of real answers from LG is unacceptable. Spread the word, maybe that will help.

I just got V10F and it's still not fixed... Grumpy

That's a shame. I was holding out hope that the G5 eventually would have it fixed. Coincidentally, I'm back on my old Nexus 5, with Marshmallow, and I'm back without this pesky inconvenience once again =)

Complain to the sites you are uploading the photos to. They need to bring their software out of the 1990s.
