no they did not ask for the promo code, i only offered it to prove i wasnt some weirdo trying to shake them down for money lol. they said that when i go to upgrade, the discount will just "be there" but that he also did note my account saying that i called and got it reassured. in fact he said like twice "you WILL get $100 off when you upgrade, but you wont see the discount until the day you can upgrade (the 17th for me) but it WILL be there. I also noted your account just in case" he made it plain as day for me :)

edit- now that i think about it, i really dont think you have to call and ask, i think it will just be a promotion when you go to upgrade. like last christmas they waived the add-a-line fee so you could upgrade to a new phone without paying extra or the bo-go droid deals. What i am saying in this edit is purely speculation based on what the rep was saying over the phone, PERSONALLY i would call and get it confirmed either way cuz this discount was about the only way i am gonna get a $300 phone for christmas lol :)

Edit: Now we just have to pray that the GN is actually released before the end of the year!!!! LOL

yeah buddy lol so far i havent cared about the delays cuz i cant even get it till the 17th, but the day draws nearer with no sign of life :( meh, i guess ill just "live" with a droid x2 till then :p
 
what is everybody talking about when you say "applied" to my account. That doesnt make any sense. There is no way to "apply" a discount or coupon when you haven't purchased anything. I'll be curious to see how this goes down whenever the phone comes out.

I got the mailing last week, looked very similar but did NOT have anything about $100 off 3G->4G upgrade.
Service is in portland, OR. I'm on the primary line of a family plan. i get a 20% service discount for the primary line thanks to my employer

tried online checkout with a razr, it shows a price of $250 for me - $299.99 - $50 discount. CH4GE did NOT work in the promo code box.

Called 1-800-922-0204 and talked to an agent. he said my $50 discount on the phone online was not a loyalty discount. I believe it might be an employer discount and is online only.

He searched for the $100 promo and said it would apply to me, over the phone or in verizon stores but not elsewhere.

good luck - It's worth at least calling and trying!
 
In the SF Bay Area here, just got back from a Verizon Corp. Store to check if the note was really made in my account. It was, also found out the launch is pretty much a go at this point for tomorrow and the specific store I went to had 70 phones in stock.....needless to say I will be there bright and early, 1 block from my work.....now lets see if all this really happens lol....cheers good luck and at the end of the day remember it is just a PHONE, lol....:D
 
What exactly did you tell the rep? I'm in NJ and I've spoken with two reps who have both told me I'm ineligible based on location.

I told them I wanted to inquire about a promotion I read about online. She checked my account and seen I was not eligible for an upgrade. I had got a rezound but returned it. She said she would look into it and then put me on hold. 2 min later she said she fixed my upgrade eligibility and it was no problem that I was eligible for $100 off any 4G phone but it won't last forever. I said yes I seen it was the 31st and she confirmed. She then offered to help me upgrade but I said I'm waiting for the nexus. I asked to note my account so if I went into a store or called to order I wouldn't get a hard time from anyone and she said absolutely no problem.

On hold trying a second time.
She is trying to get it cleared with her supervisor.

She said it really is for Chicago only (Obama discount? LOL j/k)

She said there is the regular to smartphone $100.00 credit as well.

No dice......She said if it other reps are putting it on customer accts not in that area there could be an issue processing the purchase, but I personally don't see how.
 
Got it applied, also near Cleveland, but they didnt ask where i was from at all. Took 2 tries, just tell them that "my friend told me about a 3G to 4g upgrade coupon for $100 off, and he said to call VZW CS and ask to get it credited to my account, i have a promo code if needed" and they should hand it over :) if not, try try again!

I live in Cleveland and I tried to get it today by dialing *611 and then 0. No dice. Even talked to a manager but he couldn't find it. There is one for the south for certain business accounts. And the Midwest one of course. Nothing. He called Marketing, but nothing. He noted my account as such.
I went into the local store in Parma, and told me the same thing. He was the one that told me it was documented that I called.

Call the 800 # then?

this CSR was very nice, but said it was regional and I couldn't get it. She said that at least one address on the account had to be in the midwest region in order to get it. How are you guys getting it applied to your account?
So she talks to her supervisor and comes back to tell me that because I have been a longtime customer (since 1999) she could give me the NE2 discount that doesn't exist anymore and credit me $30.00. And that I could also trade in my old phone for an addtional store credit.
I told her that my phone is worth like $12.00 (its an OG) and that my account on line already has the $30.00 loyalty discount so in reality, she is giving me nothing.
She also said she asked about the Nexus and was told it was very soon but could not give an exact date.
She is going to call me tomorrow in case there are any other promos that come out to get me a better deal.
She also said that there may be other deals offered once the Nexus is released.

Looks like I will have to make another phone call!

If anyone has any more insight as to how to get this promo applied, please help!
 
I have tried 3 times in the last 3 days. Struck out each time. Every time it is a Chicago-only discount.

I tried using *611 the first two times, and I just tried the 800 number mentioned earlier and got the same answer (Chicago only). I live in Michigan and have seen several reports of other Michigan residents who succeeded. I might just try again a few more times today and see if I get lucky.

Grrrrrr. $100 bucks seems like it is worth a few more phone calls. :-$

I don't know that it is "applied" to your account. I asked the guy if he could "note" it on my account so that when I go into my local store to pick up my Nexus (whenever it comes out!) it will show up and there won't be a big hassle for me to get it. He said no problem then he made notes on my account that he said would show up whenever I go in to get the phone! He had me hold while he typed it all up then read back what he had done. I do think it depends on who you get what they are willing to do for you.

I would think that Michigan would qualify as a Midwest region - in fact they just lit up LTE in my market in the last couple of weeks.

I am going to call every hour until I get the right CSR!
 
Just adding my success to the trail here.

I asked the CSR that helped me with some other items if I qualified for it. As many have stated it is the midwest 3G to 4G upgrade. She said there was not a coupon code, and that in PA I did qualify.

I asked here to note it on my account because it took her a minute to find it. I think that is what folks have meant when they have said applied.

Happy hunting to the rest of you. $100 is certainly worth the effort.
 
Second time I called, the rep said that people are chosen @ random to receive this discount. Probably bs.......
 
For the record...you can change both your billing and your service address using myvzw.

Change, confirm, change back?
 
just called again. after being on hold for 10 min, they brought someone else on the line. They apparently saw my other calls. They again told me that the $100.00 promo was for the midwest only and I could not get it.
He then told me he could give me a $50.00 discount. I said, that's not much, because I already have a $30.00 loyalty discount so if I use the $50.00 instead, then I only gain $20.00. He said that no, I would get the $50.00 on top of the $30.00 for a total of $80.00 off of my next phone.
So its only $20.00 less so I took it. I still have the $50.00 living social coupon to use on top of that.
Now I just need the phone!!!!!!
 
I'm in chicagoland and called in first time, the rep didn't know and said they didn't find anything. Called in again and the second rep found the promo and noted in my account that I'm eligible for the 3g -> 4g $100 promo, good until 12/31. YMMV so just keep trying different reps. Thanks for the heads-up everyone!
