Galaxy Nexus $199

One of the people I talked to asked if the people I knew of that now live in Oregon and were approved for the promo had originally started their service in the midwest...I said no, but I'm not actually sure about that. I also have a discount because I'm an employee of a business that has a corporate account with Verizon. Was hoping that would make some sort of difference. I haven't called back today...yet...

I just called (Long Island, NY), and the rep found the $100 3G-4G discount and noted it on my account. Woot!

I'm a month or so out of contract with my OG Droid, which was purchased the morning of launch day. I'm also on a $10/month unlimited data plan (some promo mentioned here about a year ago). Disturbingly, she also said that if I got a new phone, my unlimited plan would NOT be grandfathered in; she double-checked that to be sure.

I'm hoping that she double-checked incorrect information.

Sorry, I'm kind of confused. So for family plans, this only applies to the primary line? And, supposedly if you buy a phone for that primary line, you cannot transfer the phone to a different line? Hmm, I wonder how that's possible.

Got it applied, also near Cleveland, but they didnt ask where i was from at all. Took 2 tries, just tell them that "my friend told me about a 3G to 4g upgrade coupon for $100 off, and he said to call VZW CS and ask to get it credited to my account, i have a promo code if needed" and they should hand it over :) if not, try try again!

But they didn't take the promo code right? Did they tell you they actually applied anything?

I just tried via Verizon's online chat. I didn't get the discount, and I also got another interesting nugget. The representative with whom I chatted blatantly stated that the Razr is a better phone than the Nexus. This gives some credence that, at least on some level, Verizon is more interested in selling Razrs than selling Nexus...es...

Here's the chat transcript:

Please hold for a Verizon Wireless sales representative to assist you with your order. Thank you for your patience.
You are now chatting with 'Alice P.'
Mike: Hello Alice
Alice P.: Hello. Thank you for visiting our chat service. May I help you with your order today?
Alice P.: Good morning!
Alice P.: Welcome to online sales! How can I assist with your order process?
Mike: I see that I am getting $50 off if I purchase a Razr... do you know why this is?
Mike: I am only aware of a $30 new every two credit
Alice P.: I'd be happy to assist you.
Alice P.: It is the online discount also with the razor if you purchase one Motorola brand accessory you get $50 off.
Alice P.: What attracted you to the razor?
Mike: Well, to be honest, I'd like the Galaxy Nexus, but my last phone is broken so I need to get a new one soon... and the Razr seems to be the best one out.
Alice P.: I understand how you feel where with this model you chosen a better choice in phone. The razor is more durable and thinner with a faster processor than the nexus also it has a higher mega pixel in camera. With the nexus it only have a 5 mega pixel camera and more bulkier.
Alice P.: The razor has better battery life as well.
Mike: I understand the Razr will be available in white starting tomorrow.
Alice P.: Yes, that is correct.
Alice P.: You will have up until 1/15/12 to exchange your device.
Alice P.: You will also get free overnight shipping.
Mike: Well, I can certainly wait one more day to avoid paying the $35 restocking fee
Mike: I have another question... I've seen some people online saying that they are eligible for a $100 discount for a 3G to 4G upgrade... can you find any discount like that in your system?
Alice P.: Unfortunately We do not have that offer.
Mike: I think there was a promo code of CH4GE
Mike: that didn't work when I tried to enter it in my online cart though
Alice P.: Unfortunately I have not seen that code before.
Mike: I also see in my online cart that my monthly charge would be $33.99
Mike: that seems to exclude my voice charge, which is strange
Mike: it is showing $10 for 1000 messages and $23.99 for unlimited email & web for smartphones
Alice P.: Your voice carries over automatically where the $33.99 is total features you have.
Alice P.: Where when upgrading the phone it shows only features.
Mike: I see
Mike: I'm still interested in the Galaxy Nexus. I think I will wait until tomorrow to upgrade so I can choose between the black Razr or the white Razr... or perhaps Verizon will announce the Nexus release date by then.
Alice P.: I understand.
Mike: Thank you for your assistance today.
Alice P.: You are welcome.

I'm attaching a screenshot of the interesting part.

Looks like you went to DubaizonWireless by mistake there buddy.

For you that have been getting it applied, have you specifically mentioned the CH4GE code, or just asked about a 3G -> 4G promotion?

Also just got it noted on my account as well....NJ...does wave early upgrade fee and does end the 31st so I hope this phone does come out before then.

I asked about the nexus and got the usual they don't know but this lady said they usually don't until the consumer does, basically saying they never know in advance. I asked about the razr in white and got the same answer and that was announced...lol

I called, and the rep found the promo, but says there is nothing to "apply" to my account, esp before i even make a purchase. She wouldnt even annotate my account, just said you should be elegible when i make a purchase. So what is everybody doing? Are you gonna call and order it and have a CSR "apply" the discount. It doesnt seem like it will work ordering a phone online by yourself.

I finally got someone that was very helpful!!! The lady applied the discount to my account and I'm not even the primary line.

What exactly did you tell the rep? I'm in NJ and I've spoken with two reps who have both told me I'm ineligible based on location.

First try was unsuccessful. When i hit the "0" button, I mentioned upgrade. The person I spoke with said she does not deal with promo codes. I said my friend told me about it. I suggest, and will later, saying "customer service" instead after hitting 0.

She could not find any promo for 3g to 4g. Largely useless....except, she said they all got to play with the Nexus this morning. She didn't have a date but said before Christmas and at least by the end of the year.

I'll call back later. This time I'll just mention going to the store and asking about promotions, etc and not discuss a specific phone.

Has anybody in Washington state been able to get this applied? Still not having any luck. Maybe they have my account flagged or something...

My telesales person told me via email.

"No green light…also we have no promo to upgrade from a 3g to a 4g phone at this time. "

When you call in hit 0 at the "main menu" and then when it asks why you are calling just hit 0 again. That's how I got through to someone. I had to call 3 times to get someone that actually knew what I was talking about. Basically I started the conversation with "I'm interested in upgrading my phone to a 4G phone and I heard there was a 3g to 4g promo do you know anything about that?" The lady said "Yes let me see... and 2 minutes later she was telling me all about it and she eventually applied it to my account and it does expire on 12/31. If you don't get someone that can help you the first time just keep calling, you will get someone that knows about this.
