Galaxy Nexus Web Site Only Release on November 21st?

Re: Galaxy Nexus Web Site Only Release on the 21st?

You have to give Verizon credit. They're trying to ignore the Galaxy Nexus. They really want people to buy the Razr.
VZWNews: Happy Birthday DROID! It's been 2 years since the launch of the 1st DROID. Celebrate w/ #DroidRAZR. Available 11-11-11

Of course they do.. Don't get me wrong, the RAZR is a solid device. But its MotoLocked. I entered in the droid does thing... wouldn't mind having one on the side. I could always switch between nexus and RAZR easily since both are supposed to use microSIM. I may even purchase a MotoACTV. My nike+ sensor is dying and I'm starting to loath Nike+ since they can't find a decent web-programmer to stop the syncing issues (however, mine started with the iTunes update... so I'm willing to blame Apple ;))

It will be interesting to see which approach yields more results.
The traditional marketing of the Razr or the effed-up coy approach that's driving the hunger in this forum.

I'd be pretty willing to bet that by the time its all said and done, the RAZR will sell plenty more. Outside these forums, not many people know or care about the Nexus. That could easily be overcome with some marketing and Verizon pushing the phone, but that will not happen.

Not going to happen... not with the amount of marketing they have already done. Maybe when they no longer have an exclusive on this device will some marketing come out... like, "Only on Verizon can you get the Galaxy Nexus with America's most reliable network and speed of LTE"

But other than that... I don't see any push for this device.

Re: Galaxy Nexus Web Site Only Release on the 21st?

Judging from the upcoming promotion title ("Samsung Holiday Bundle", or some such), it's almost like they're going to be pushing the newest tablet offerings for Samsung, and just include the Nexus as part of that; no single-product marketing push for a phone device (a la Razr).

That's OK by me. I'll still get a Nexus, and let the masses have the Razr :)

Re: Galaxy Nexus Web Site Only Release on the 21st?

With the Razr coming out tomorrow on Friday you would have to expect Verizon to keep a tight lip about a release date for the Galaxy Nexus. Big Red doesn't want anything to distract from the Razr launch.

Over the last 24 hours this is the number of news stories on both devices according to Google.

Galaxy Nexus: 7,590
Droid Razr: 2,860

The Razr will never receive as much press as its receiving right now.

I'm still being cautiously optimistic on the 17th as release day (despite the Droid-Life leak). I'm hoping some time around the 15th we'll hear something....anything really.

Maybe I've missed something, but I haven't seen any commercials or any other advertising for the Nexus, and don't expect to. News stories on tech websites mean absolutely nothing to 98% of their customer base. TV commercials on the other hand...

Agree let's hope we start hearing more and get a solid date and not just rumors.

Once they are released they will have reviews and that but both press eill die off. It's just rumors are fueling the nexus stories.

I could be wrong, and hope I am because I would like to see more vanilla devices, but I don't think I am. The only people excited about the Nexus frequent these boards, and we are maybe 2% of the 70 million Verizon customers. TV commercials and what they recommend in the stores has a lot more weight with buyers. I'll put it this way, I know probably about 40 people who have android phones, 30 of them say they have Droids even if they're not on Verizon, 7 of them say they have Android phones, 1 will only get a Nexus and is on these boards, and the remaining 2 I have talked into Nexus's for their next phone, but when their contracts are up. I really think everyone here severely overestimates out presence in the market.

2% of 70 million is a lot more than frequent these boards I'm afraid.

Oh, I know it, lol. I was referring to enthusiasts as a whole, and not just this board. And i was being overly generous. We as enthusiasts are probably less than .5%

Imagine if we did have 1.4 million on these boards though? haha

That could be interesting.

This will be my first Android device (coming from iPhones) and it's been a heckuva wait!

Agree, 2 gr8 minds think alike. lol On another note, I went and picked up some screen protectors at a local store yesterday. Asked a guy what phone had the most in store buzz? He said the Razr was the hottest in Oct. but surprisingly he said (the phone thought by some to be "unknown"), has actually been a hotter inquiry than he expected from in store traffic, over the past 2 weeks. So maybe there's more buzz from the average Joes, than we have expected. That's a plus sign as far as release goes, anyway.

Re: Galaxy Nexus Web Site Only Release on the 21st?

Holy crap! This thread is only 10 days old and was buried 4 pages deep already.

After all the rumored dates and wishful thinking, this really makes the most sense and is, to date, the most official-looking timeline we've seen.

I hoped it would drop this week (so I could play with it on a long, boring bus trip), but I'm resigning myself to next week.

Re: Galaxy Nexus Web Site Only Release on the 21st?

The lack of demo units makes me fairly certain that this is indeed what is going to happen.

Normally, I'd be POed that Verizon took so long but now all I can think is FINALLY!

Re: Galaxy Nexus Web Site Only Release on the 21st?

Sigh....

November 21. The good old days.
