Galaxy Nexus Web Site Only Release on November 21st?

Ah so back to where this conversation started, why are we blaming VZW for this? If they have so much invested in the Razr, do we blame them for stretching out the release od a phone that won't have the same commercial appeal?

Thank you voice of reason. Jeez people, relax. They just showed the phone. I kinda hope they say January just for all you people flipping out. Your current phone is just as good as it was before they announced the Nexus.

You can understand why people might be upset. Verizon passed on one of the world's most popular phones (GS2) to have an exclusive on the Galaxy Nexus. Now they're sitting on it b/c they think that can sell a Droid branded phone full of bloat.

It'll be interesting if VZW even allows the phone to be displayed in their stores.

I am just gonna wait and see what happens, this is starting to remind me of the way they are bringing Yuengling beer into my part of Ohio. First it was supposed to be the last week of October, then the date got moved to the first week in November, and now they are saying there is a distribution issue and we may not get it until the end of the month.
Yuengling is my favorite American beer.

Thanks, Robrecht

This is getting stupid really. Release the dam phone. If its web only may as well do it now. W/o 21st will turn into a shipping nightmare. For one they will take 2days approving/preparing shipment/shipping, then tracking number.
By that time no shipping due to Thanksgiving. Then Into the weekend and still no package lol. I have been down this road before.

Really? I just switched back to Vzw after a few years and all i have is a half broken Blackberry Curve 8330... so no.

It wasn't half broken before the announcement? Everyone seems to forget that Verizon has to optimize sales. They aren't going to just release it and have it scavenge sales from other phones just because a few people are ridiculously impatient.

That's the weakest argument ever. A sale is a sale, people that are buying this arent scavenging sales from thr others. Vice versa actually.Optimizing by doing this does nothing really. They are still selling units and contracts. Those "bloat" apps aren't money makers, contracts are.

Not by a long shot. My OG Droid is lagging more every week, I've having software issues, and the hardware is starting to fail. It's turning into a cliffhanger: will VZW pull its thumb out in time before my phone goes to the glue factory?

No, not really. Verizon has to try to make all manufacturers happy. I doubt Motorola and HTC would be too happy if they were all competeing at the same time. This is very obvious and has been discussed plenty already. It's not a dumb arguement, it is what it is.

Even if you have to go a day or two without a phone...it's worth it. If not, pick up another of the great options Verizon is making available

that sucks, but its not really Verizon's problem. There are other phones out there you could get, you could buy one used to hold you over if you want. Its not their concern that their timing for the release of the phone you want doesn't work for you. They're going to release it when it works for them.

I changed that to weak instead of dumb as not to offend. I understand what you are saying but I still think its weak. What are the manufacturers going to pull their product off Verizon shelves. Heck no. So why truly would Verizon or rather should they care who puts the asses in the seats so to speak. They make money reguardless is my point

It is their concern because there's an entire generation of OG Droids approaching EOL. These are users who have spent years on vanilla Android and are the most likely to want to continue with it. If the Nexus is ready, they'll jump to it in droves. If it isn't and their phones start to fail before a release date is announced, they'll start looking around. That is not in Verizon's best interest.

There are stores here in central Ohio that sell it already.

On topic: Why, if Verizon has this phone on their website, don't they say anything about release date?

Lol, don't worry, I don't offend easy. They won't pull things ooff the shelves, but they may give preferential treatment to another carrier. Motorola brings their best to Verizon. If Verizon puts out the Nexus, RAZR, and Vigor at the same time and the RAZR and Vigor don't sell well, then Verizon's orders for HTC and Motorola's next phones may go down. Its all about money. That's business

But they're are still other phones out there. You're talking about a few weeks. Its still really not Verizon's concern. They're not worried about a handful of people that might leave because their Droid dies before a phone that doesn't even have a release date comes out. The number of people that would actually leave over that is EXTREMELY small

Most OG DROID users have had their upgrade for a while now (assuming they got it the month it came out) and by now they have an iPhone or a D3 or even something else. Also, people don't know what you're talking about when you say 'vanilla android' and could careless -- it isn't what made the DROID sell so well. Android is Android and they just want something that works and looks good doing it. If anything, they might want a DROID RAZR because it's super thin and they know what a DROID is and that they want it.

Most people don't realize they can upgrade early and only do so when their contract expires, also the og droid sold extremely well for a long time so there are still a lot of og droid owners that are not even eligible for an upgrade yet.

People also need to remember that the amount of people out there that know anything at all about upcoming phones is a tiny percentage of the customer base. 98% of people go in when they can get an upgrade, look at the phones on the shelf, maybe ask one of the workers, and pick something. 98% of Verizon customers don't have the slightest clue what a Nexus is.
