Galaxy Note 10.1 4.3

I have been a loyal Samsung customer for over 2 years and me and the fam own Samsung phones, tablets, tvs and blu-ray players. I love my Note 10.1. WTF is up with the 4.3 update for the 10.1? I mean seriously, this company that is so large and at the top of the Android game but yet can't release a software update in a timely manner. Oh no, they just release another device instead. I have a Note II as well and I'm still waiting. It angers me that this company holds out on software updates until they are somewhat satisfied with sales of the replacement devices. Any thoughts on this? Anyone?

They want you to buy their new phones, so they hold off on updates. Some people actually do upgrade. It sucks that they don't upgrade as fast as other phones but that's how it is, they need to test it on all of the different models, then release it to the carriers who mess with it some more and it gets delayed

If only there were another company that would make tablets/phones like Note-serie (phone+tabletsize+pen), I think I would switch. Although I just love my Note 10.1 (phone model), using it daily many hours, it makes me feel angry that Samsung offers updates for smaller size phones to work with Gear and keep pushing new models out. Come on! A smaller phone is easy to carry in a pocket anyway and taken out immediately when it rings... But 10.1 which need Gear definitely is still without update.

I made my mind and decided to wait couple weeks to wait any news from Samsung, then I buy Sony Smartwatch if Samsung says nothing about the possible update.

And it's not only the os update, but think about snote new version and compatibility with our snote!

Come on Samsung! You have already got our money and we now we expecting some customer care too! Otherwise you are going to loose us... What does your PR team do? Maybe they are designing new Galaxy model for a xmas? And remember, when the time is right, there are more competitors who keep their customers happy, then it's "Byebye Sammy!"

Well, I should say, that Im satisfied with Samsung when (=WHEN) they update their devices. Most of all, Samsung makes stable updates, which is important. And I did know it when I bought my Note 10.1 that Im forced to wait updates sometimes but still.. Almost a year since they last update it to 4.1.2 and now we are going already 4.4, their newest devices have 4.3. They also designed an accessory which needs Android 4.3 but they didnt update their latest products before it. Whaaaaaat? What were they thinking??? Nothing?

Im not asking I should get every updates, but Im expecting to get my device to work with their accessories they made by themselves. I have Asus TF300 and it gets updates all the time, sometimes too often, but at least Asus knows how to keep their customers happy.

Samsung is going to hang itself if they dont change their behaviour from only manufacturing more devices than it is already enough. We were not buying "chinacrap" - use once and throw away -we thought we were buying some premium devices.

Samsung really has no incentive to update the old 10.1 or Note 2 to 4.3. It costs them money to do so and unless there's a SIGNIFICANT bug only the new OS can address it's not fiscally in their best interest to pay engineers to develop updates for older devices. Some feel entitled to these OS upgrades but in all honesty you paid for a stable working product and the OS it came with. I don't think Samsung would agree that you paid for a year or two of free OS upgrades.

It costs them money to do so and unless there's a SIGNIFICANT bug only the new OS can address it's not fiscally in their best interest to pay engineers to develop updates for older devices. Some feel entitled to these OS upgrades but in all honesty you paid for a stable working product and the OS it came with. I don't think Samsung would agree that you paid for a year or two of free OS upgrades.

I have to disagree. None of us paid $300-700 for a premium device and didn't expect we should be getting OS upgrades. Upgraded software with new features is what helps with the reasoning on why we should pay that kind of money for a device. If it wasn't for that why pay so much? It surely isn't because its the best thing since sliced bread or anything. I have many many Samsung products but I agree with the OP. If they do not start upgrading the software to bring something new Ill look else ware for my electronic needs. I sure am not going to pay them 100's of dollars every year for upgrading software and a device with a few new features. Someone will update their stuff and put out a good product to keep their customers coming back.

Look at their quarterly/yearly earnings. I don't want to hear suger coating excuses as to why my tablet, still a newer device and very capable device cannot receive a timely update. The only excuse is greed and let's see how many people will buy the new device. Don't get me wrong, the 2014 edition is great and all but the 2012-2013 edition is more than capable of handling not just this update but, 4.4 as well. I dislike apple but at least they keep their customers updated.

Nexus. Nexus devices are the only way your expectations are going to be met as far as OS upgrades. That's just the reality. Apple can keep things updated because they have far less hardware to consider and they do charge a premium which some feel isn't justified.

Again, sounds like you may be better served with a Nexus device. Out of curiosity how many years of free OS upgrades do you feel are justified? If you say one someone will say two...and someone else will say three. Who is correct?

I say two years is fair. The hardware should be able to handle any of the software advancements made in that time. Especially with the high-end specs of the devices nowadays

Not only models, but we have done so many skins for the same model too, sprint, att, verizone... etc. What do we do?" -Hey, I have a solution. Make another Galaxy and named it (2014)!
