Galaxy Note 3 Battery Review

How do you do that?

Nothing too special. I enable power saving mode, keep the display brightness pretty low (probably at a setting of 10 out of 100), and only autosync necessary apps. I find the display on the Note 3 really, really bright compared to my old S3, so the 10/100 setting is plenty bright. Also, a lot of the 8 hours of screen time was spent browsing or doodling in the sketchbook app (where there's no real data/video/music). I'd say only ~1 hours of the screen usage was for videos (like netflix, youtube, etc.).

Has anyone tested battery life with gaming? Most of these battery test shows nobody ever plays games on the Note 3. Just play a game max graphics at 50% brightness for 30 to 60 minutes, then post how much battery % you used and we'll be able to take out our calculators and do the math on how many hours of gaming this can do

Holy ****. Do you turn on airplane mode and use at the lowest brightness?

LOL, no. No airplane mode whatsoever, although I should mention that most of the data usage was on WIFI (not sure if that's better/worse compared to 4G LTE battery consumption wise). My screen brightness was dialed down pretty low (probably 10/100), but even at this setting, the screen was plenty bright. I find the screen on my Note 3 to be crazy bright, compared to my old S3. Almost overkill, unless you're outside in bright sunlight...

Damn, I'm jelly XD I can get 5 or so hours on my S4 over 10-15 hours depending on my day. I want to try and get 6+ hours by using airplane mode.

Time to upgrade your S4 and get a Note 3 and you can get this battery life too :)

Had my s4 for 6 months and upgraded to my note 3 and not looking back love every minute of it.

Just thought about something. I am using the Samsung default orange background for both lockscreen and home screen. Does that contribute to eating of battery. I wonder if a dark background would change that.

Yes, using dark backgrounds (Color black more-so than others) will decrease battery consumption :D

The battery life on my Note3 is much, much worse than the Note2. I'm not sure what to do?

Reduce screen brightness. Keep it on a dock. Carry a spare battery. Or return the phone.

I'm sticking with suggestions 2 and 3, but battery life seems to be improving a bit these past few days.

Mine seems to have improved with the new maps update. I haven't changed any settings but the battery seems to have settled down a bit and is not draining as quickly. Fingers crossed. As I mentioned before, before all the apps downloaded upon activation, the battery was talking forever to drop from 100% > 75%. We'll see....

So can we compile the data and see how much impact does screen brightness have on the battery life?

10%--> 8 hrs
50%--> 6 hrs?
100%-->4 hrs?
