Galaxy Note 3 Battery Review

Right now I have 9% with 3:29 screen on and 7:46 total. I am definitely not impressed. Is there maybe something I'm not doing or am doing that is lowering it like crazy? My usual day is that it comes off the charger at 7:30 and then into airplane mode while JM at school. I might play some games or something through the school day but I don't really use it a whole lot other than that. Then at about 2:30 I charge it back to 100% because its usually at about 85 and I won't make it the rest of the day at that. When I get out of school at 3:15 I turn airplane mode off. It sits in the car through track practice. Then when I get home I use it a good bit for twitter, email games, and such. I always have to plug it back in before 11. I never have WiFi on yet the battery monitor says its always on. I occasionally use GPS but I turn it off when not in use. The only other things I really leave on are multi window, air view, air gesture, and smart stay. Looking in my battery monitor it says I funny is using 10% for being on 12 minutes and CPU usage of 52 minutes. I'll try uninstalling that and see if it helps at all though I don't know why that would do anything.

How long does it stay in the car? What the temperature outside?

3 hr screen on its definitely not right.

I went into App Ops (in stock 4.3 accessible via Nova launcher) and toggled off a bunch of location stuff and battery life is improving. It's a great little surprise in 4.3 and I have yet to hear of anyone on the forums who has utilized it.

can you explain in greater detail? im not seeing it.

Full day easy and more

- facebook syncing
- plume / carbon / falcon /official twitter all syncing whilst I decide which one i prefer (falcon at he moment)
- 14 widgets including RSSjunkie, dash clock, falcon, android central, other news feeds
- streaming podcasts for the 1 hour commute to from work via Bluetooth
- daily update of apps
- all apps set to sync on mobile data
- running notifer plus, dynamic notifications, floating notifications whilst I choose my preferred set up
- llama running in the background. Currently disables mobile data when connected to home wifi and re-enables when disconnected / go to silent at night
- 3 lock screen widgets
- easy 4 hr+ screen time - usually facebook/twitter/browser
- some calls and sms
- gmail push
- viber / what app running and syncing
- some of the air view, air guestures and Samsung gimmicks running
- gsam and bbs running whilst I monitor initial power use

Phone off charge at 6am and still has 15%+ when going back on after 10pm...

Really busy in work the other day went home at 6pm still had 80%(so hardly touched the phone)

I'm a believer of using a smart-phone and the suggestions of disable this don't use that ... Set the screen so it's that dark you're squinting are just crazy.... May as well be using a Nokia 5110.

To top it all off I can the easily swap the battery if that extra juice needed for travel etc, and the battery charged amazingly fast if needing to be topped up.

It's now getting to the point where I don't think I need to have the battery monitoring apps or show a % on the status bar.... As in real say use unless I'm communising on a long train journey I'm confident that it will get through the day.

And right on cue...the power went out. And I'm at 20%.

I'm at 2hr 50m screen on, and still at 67%. I'm wayyyy more than happy with that. With my S3, I noticed I was getting horrible battery until I reigned in Google Now. I had all the cards fully active, and after some tinkering was able to get my battery life up substantially.

I've used App Ops to turn off a lot of stuff including Google Now. I ordered a 7500 extended battery, I can't take the battery anxiety. I had 2 of them for my Note 2. If course they won't fit the Note 3. Of course not. :banghead:

For me, Google now is a pivotal part of the way I use my phone and I wouldn't turn it off. A 7500mAh? That's gotta be like a brick!

Lol, it is, but I've had extended batteries since the NS4G, so I'm used to it. I don't mind the bulk, I like having the weight in my hand, it helps me hold onto the phone.

Been using my phone alot latey and so glad I have the spare battery kit. Watched like 2-3 hours of netflix last night...

my worse battery life was this

4 hours, 30 minutes screen time
20 hours total.

that shows how great battery life is..all that was on 3G with alot of netflix.

I'm also ordering one of those. Are you getting the one from EBay?

And to everyone else I fixed my issue.

Hmmm. Can y'all share some battery saving tips? I'm 1 hour, super low brightness, data on from a full charge, and lost 18% of my batter life already. :(

Was the screen on the whole time? If so, that is not bad at all. Generally 5-6 hours of screen on time throughout the day is good.

I didn't get a screenshot, but ended up with 4 hours 49 minutes of screen on time, unplugged at 930AM and plugged back in at 10PM with 21% left. That's ridiculously good, and well longer than I'd normally use it if it weren't new.
