Galaxy S3 rebooting by itself

I've been having a similar problem on my phone, which is based on the S3, though T-Mobile recently had to reboot my network connection to solve a different problem, but I've not had the reboot thing happen since. Might just be coincidence, though ... only time will tell.

Hey! Are you the same David Crenshaw from H.A.W.X. ? Man, you're one hell of a combat pilot. Thanks for saving the world! Well, you haven't done it yet...but you will. You will.

I'm having the bootloop problem as well. It had just started after I updated 3 updates in this order. Flipside, Google crome and Gmail. I opened up gmail and clicked the refresh or sync button when it started. I pulled the batter and that didn't help. Looks like I'll have to do a factory reset.

My condolences. This phone just sucks. It just will get worse and worse. That's why I'll be getting an iPhone!

Will a factory reset delete all data?
A Factory Reset will set the phone back to the condition it was in when you took it out of the box, with one minor exception - anything that you've saved on the SD card (if you have one) will remain intact.

Of course, any information that you've synced with Google (contacts, Gmail) will return once you go through the setup.

If you want to save other information you could use the Kies software on your PC to backup your contacts, SMS/MMS, pictures/videos, call logs, etc.

You could also try
Cloud Drive: http://market.android.com/details?id=com.amazon.clouddrive.photos (this will automatically save your pictures/videos to the cloud - 5GB free)
Helium: http://market.android.com/details?id=com.koushikdutta.backup (this will allow you to backup your apps and app data, along with a few other items)

Edit: sorry your experience with Android has been less than satisfactory - if you could be more specific about issues you're having perhaps we can help. Of course, there's always the iPhone to fall back on.

Hi please help me
my device Galaxy P5100 Tab 2 10.1 no rooted no update
android 4.0.4
reboots itself three times and more in day
when i use it or no
i do factory reset two times and the problem still
the apps which i install about 10 apps
Chrome and Facebook ,i didn't install it

It sounds like there may be a hardware problem, but you'll have to eliminate apps as a potential cause first.

If your Tab supports Safe mode you could try that.

Of just do another Factory Reset and then during the setup DO NOT perform the step where you add your Google account (just choose Skip). Then see if the problems continue - if they do, it's time to get your tablet replaced.

BTW, I'm sure there's a specific forum for Galaxy Tab users - you might get some better suggestions there.

Unfortunately that's a pretty common occurrence.
If you can boot into Recovery mode you can try clearing the system cache and then restart and see if things are better. If not, you could try a Factory Reset, but you'll lose whatever data you didn't have backed up.

You may want to just try reloading the firmware using the Kies software to see if that gets the phone to boot.

Has your problem been resolved?

If not, it's possible that the problem is a stuck Power switch. We'll need more information to determine what, if anything, can be done to help you.

I have the same issue, along with a lot more. This phone is brand new.. three weeks old, and I've had these issues since I bought it. My boyfriend got the same exact phone from the same company and is not experiencing any of the issues I am having. The only differences between our phones is that I am version 4.3 while he never got that update and is a version behind me (probably 4.2.?).

My phone reboots multiple times a day at random.. though I notice that it reboots often when I am plugging it into a PC to be charged. It has rebooted automatically twice since I have been reading this forum. Occasionally the screen goes black and won't turn on, although I know from my LED that the phone is still on. I am then forced to hold the power button until it restarts.

On top of these reboot issues, I have mobile data issues. My mobile data does not work except within the first few minutes after restarting my phone (I guess the automatic rebooting is occasionally helpful). If one app is using mobile data right after restarting my phone (for example, iHeartRadio), the mobile data will continue to work and other apps will also be able to use mobile data. However, if NOTHING is using mobile data, none of my apps can access the internet unless I restart my phone. If I forget to use my mobile data within a few minutes of restarting the phone, I have to restart again. The only thing that seems to defy my mobile data issues is my texts. The texts almost always work. Occasionally I have issues sending them, but I always receive them (except from iPhone people sending me iMessages--stupid Apple). I don't talk on the phone that often, but I haven't experienced any issues with that either.
When I'm connected to WIFI everything works with no issues. Although, I'm not sure about the rebooting.. I can't recall a time where my phone has automatically rebooted while I was connected to WIFI, so I will start paying attention to this.

THINGS I HAVE TRIED:
Uninstalling Apps
Removing battery for ten minutes
Factory Reset
Toggling mobile data/airplane mode (my mobile data is always on)

I haven't found anybody else with these exact issues. I thought maybe it was the version I am on (4.3) however, I know others with the same version and phone who are not experiencing these issues.

So.. any one have any suggestions? Probably going to visit AT&T today to see if they can help.

You should have taken it back within the 14 exchange period and requested a brand new replacement.

You could try booting into Safe mode http://support.verizonwireless.com/support/devices/knowledge_base.html/59242 to see if the problem persists. If it does then you likely have a hardware problem.

BTW, do you have an SD card installed? If so, try removing that for awhile and see if the problem goes away.

Hello,

I have the same problem now. What I've noticed is that it reboots whenever I try the following:

1- Trying to connect to the internet (WiFi or 3G)
2- Going on the Applications manager (so I can uninstall applications to see if it makes any difference).
3- Running the task manager and trying to access the "Downloaded Apps" tab.

I've tried clearing the cache and nothing changed. I have an S3 mini and the android version is 4.1.2, it's not rooted.

I do not want to do a factory reset, as I have really important 1 year old whatsapp conversations that are vital to my work.

Regardless of whether you want to or not, your problem symptoms dictate a Factory Reset as the necessary course of action.

Use the Kies software on your PC to make a backup of your contacts, pictures/videos, SMS/MMS, call logs and TouchWiz settings.

Also open WhatsApp and select Settings -> Chat settings -> Backup conversations: this should backup your information to their server (this is done daily by default). When you reinstall WhatsApp after going through the phone setup all of your conversation history should be there.

I'm contacting the seller now about it. I thought it was an issue with AT&T but now I'm not so sure.
I do not have an sd card. I tried going to AT&T today and they were absolutely zero help. They wanted me to factory reset my phone, which I've tried.

This is super frustrating.

I rooted my phone and i downloaded something on my phone that ruined it now it rebooted and it will not turn on again Plz help i cant go on my phone anymore and i dont have the money for a new one!:(
