Galaxy S5: Huge disappointment, Samsung TOTALLY dropped the ball!

Did you not understand what I just explained how it reads a heart rate? I can't explain it any simpler. It does the same exact thing the flash and camera does. Please stop drinking the coolaid. Let me guess, It's special because Samsung put it on the phone.

Yes, I understand how it works! Do you understand what I'm trying to tell you?? If you think that the software HRM is going to be the same as a hardware HRM, you are sadly mistaken. You're getting a dedicated monitor in your device or else it wouldn't be significant.

wow, loads of information, that would be more than good enough for me, even if i get my emails a few minutes after the BB, i would be satisfied since it's never THAT big of a rush and i wouldn't have a blackberry sitting next to my droid to make me feel like i could have gotten it faster. :)

Funny, I blast music on break at school but I pay attention th the reactions of those around me and adjust playlist accordingly to somthing that seems to be comporable to everyone. :)

It uses a SENSOR to read your HR. IT DOES NOT USE THE CAMERA AS THE SENSOR!

Thank you for proving my point!

It does the same exact thing as the flash and camera does. It measure the change in color of your finger. The HRM apps turn the camera+LED into a sensor and gives the same results and a dedicated HRM sensor because they both measure the same exact thing.

You have been using a camera as a sensor which IS NOT as accurate as using a dedicated monitor/sensor!

Thank you for proving my point!

Wrong again! I've used the app while at the hospital with a 12 lead EKG and it gave almost the same heart rate + or - 1 deviation. The doctor was even amazed at how accurate it was. So please don't tell me about accuracy. I also tested before and after a stress test.

I've used the apps as well and it hasn't been accurate for my use. At best, + or - 5 at resting heart rate but not that very accurate when accelerated. I plan on using the Gear 2 or Fit to get a constant HR for this reason.

I still think I need hands on with the device before I go one way or another with judgment towards the phone.

So we should berate them for not changing a winning formula? Do u know how business works?

If your normally, doesn't htc satisfy all your needs? As far as I can see, you would like their next device, so why complain about the s5 so much?

That's what this thread is all about! Why we are disappointed. Do you go into everything thread defending Samsung? I guess you're one of the lucky ones who's never had any problems with a Samsung device and never voiced your displeasure with your issue on the forum.

I have issues with samsung, but I don't need to cry about them because most of the issues are avoidable .

I needed a bigger battery, so I bought a 7000mah one, I wanted faster updates, so I rooted my phone .

There's no need to yell and complain about fixable things, all my needs we're fixable .

I haven't been waiting on the s5, I never wanted it, my upgrade came since February first, and I plan on waiting until the note 4 and iPhone 6 come out to make a decision .the s5 was never a contender for me so I don't need to whine about it.

As far as the s5 goes , I love the new additions, I can't find one that I wouldn't use at least once, so no, I'm not disappointed .

I'm not crying about anything. All I was attempting to explain is the dedicated HRM and apps+camera+LED work the same way. They both work as a pulse oximeter which measures transmission of light through a finger. As the heart contracts, the blood volume in the fingertip increases and less light gets through. That's how it measures heart rate. That's all I'm trying to say but everyone seems to think they work differently and one is better than the other which isn't the case. Samsung added an extra LED and lens to make people think it's something special. Apparently, it's worked.

You come off with an aggressive attitude in some of your posts, so that's what I'm referring to by saying "crying"

As far as how the hrm works, I really couldn't care less, but it's something I would use once or twice, and in now way harms me so I can't complain nor do I find it useless

I'm not saying it's useless. Just redundant since the hardware (camera+LED) was already fully capable of working as an HRM.
