Galaxy S8 / S8 + Battery Life Thread

I'm very happy with my S8+ battery life.

Hi guys, quick question here. Do you wait until the battery is low before putting it back on the charger? Is it bad to throw it on the charger while at my desk and it's at 70% battery?
It's actually better for lithium batteries to charge like that versus a deep charge (ie, let it go dead then charge)

I figure we should start an official battery thread since we are seeing quite a few pop up.

Remember to post your stats below and advise if you have the S8 or S8 Plus :).
Fully charged 7:30AM yesterday and still had some battery 11:44PM last night, not bad at all.

I have been seeing 5-6 hrs sot on the s8 but have noticed standby time to not be the best

Standby time for androids is typically never good unless you are running stock. Otherwise, battery is really good in terms of usage wise.

Over 8 hours SOT, everything set to stock, auto brightness, on Wi-Fi most of the day...

Ok I'm impressed. I didn't want to be but I am. I've used the S8+ all day today as if I just don't care about if my battery dies. One thing I don't get is why tapatalk and flipboard don't show up in my battery usage.

So far my 8+ has had fantastic battery life for my use compared to any of the many devices I've had. Good stuff.

If it's anything like an iPhone battery, it will charge based on a cycle. Meaning it's smart enough to know you're charging it at 70% and is rated for thousands (or hundreds?) of cycles rather than times you physically plug it in. So 70-100% is 30% of a single charge cycle.

I'm at 5 hour SOT after 31 hours off the charger on my S8 with 14% left. Fairly decent performance. I didn't use it all on Wi-Fi.

Today.... Not bad.

19.5 hours total and 3 hours of screen estimated if I run it to zero.

The battery life is much better than my S7 was for sure.

How are you guys getting 7+ screen time... I'm getting like 5.5 (way better than my S7 Edge), but then I never tweaked anything... What did u guys tweak?

Where I work we have to keep our phones in lockers for security reasons, so yeah service isn't good in that room. However, my iPhone barely budges in the same scenario. Android and iOS have similar battery life while using the phones. Certain Android phones better. Standby just isn't as good on Android though. I've never had an Android phone that gets the standby battery life iOS does. It's not a deal breaker. I just have to remember to either turn my S8+ off or put it in Airplane Mode when I get to work to preserve battery life.

It's true. There is no phone even close to the iPhone in Standy battery drain. The iPhone, especially the 7, just sips power when not in use. So impressive.

That said, my S8+ is the best Android yet in Standby mode and I that while it's still not in the iPhone's league for Standby, it definitely sips power pretty carefully if you're on WiFi or in a solid cell coverage area, maybe just a percent or two per hour which isn't bad for Android. In a bad cell area like you clearly have, all bets are off.
