Galaxy Tab 3 7" - Is it a good tablet????

If all I could get was the wifi version, then I would've hands down got the 8" model. As far as the wifi ones go, it is obviously the best of the 3 available. A little odd of a thing though, I actually like the button on the 7" version better. Seems a little wider or something.

We have the Sprint version and my sister just got the GT3 7" WiFi version.
I gotta say, mine is better and it's faster.

Oh I bet it is. The processor in the Sprint version is better yet than the 8" WiFi model.

And I still am loving my Sprint Tab 3 7.0 also. :-)

I was pleasantly surprised that there are TWO TV control solutions preloaded for the blaster on the LTE model. And multi room support including different zip and cable box...a real travel bonus there.

I also have the Galaxy tab 3, with 64 G memory card. Home has wi-fi. Since I assume emails etc. would run off the wi-fi while I'm at home, I'm wondering if the $5 plan would be sufficient.

Yes. Sign up for whatever plan in store, then go online after and change the plan to $5 in your account settings. Go on your new Tab, pull down the notification bar and tap the gear in upper right. Data usage pane lets you disable mobile data, and then you pull down the red bar on the graph. It will resize, pull it down again. To 20MB. And you should check the usage limit on too.

ALTERNATIVE. Leave it in Airplane mode nearly all the time and just enable wifi when you're home. However there is a small risk that you will experience the date/time reset bugs on the 7.0 wifi if the device cannot get a time signal from the cellular towers. It is very simple tho if you need data in an emergency.

The third option is turn off mobile data and preset the hard data cap to 500MB or so, leave the antenna active. Then in an emergency you can just turn mobile data on but the cap will save you from large overage if you forget to turn data off again. Sprint data overage is billed very cheaply, I think $0.015/MB or so. 500MB for $7.50 not bad.

Welcome Shirl!
I also recommend what Relgoshan wrote. 👇

Loving the Sprint version. I got my yesterday. FREE by the way since I'm on the Framily plan ($5/month minimum data plan for the Tab though), but I'm using it on Wi-Fi only. I disabled the data option. I figured for $120 (data for 24 months), that's totally worth it for a ~$299 tablet.

Hell to the yea! 😆
That was my plan since I also got it for free.
However, after tasting the benefits of the 2GB plan, it's worth the $15/month.

The wifi version of the tab 3 7.0 is NOT worth it in my eyes. The 4.1.2 OS (I know, you've all heard this chorus already) won't allow for external memory storage for things like apps, games and movies and the Samsung Bloatware (which can't be removed) takes up a lot of your internal memory (which at 8 gb, is pretty weak to begin with).

However, if you're looking into a Samsung or other 3g/4g model, you're getting a much better tablet. The 4.2.2 OS DOES support external memory, which means that you're golden if you get a decent sized memory card. The tablet's slow, but responsive and has a good sensor for touch.

Of course, my only thing to compare it to is a N2A modded Nook Color from 2011, so my point of reference is skewed.

Overall, I feel this is a good tablet for the money. It's slightly better than the Asus Memo Pad (I returned one already), but not as good as the Nexus 7...except that it allows for external memory. The hard storage # on the Nexus series reminds me too much of my beef with Apple and their blatant lack of external memory storage.

That's why those of us with the Sprint version are so happy with ours.
Our GT3 7" does have 4.2.2 and 16GB internal storage, and faster processor. 👍😆

Hm. You actually sound sane here, epsato. Seeing as you cannot get the wifi model to work as hard as you need (movie/app storage, frame rates) it could make sense to return or resell it and either buy a different brand or the LTE model with plan modified as above.

Im confused, how come when I take my data cable and plug it into a usb will charger it doesnt charge but when I plug it into my Samsung white adapter it works
My samsung adapter charges my iphone fine..which mesns my samsung data cable only charges when plugged into my samsung wall charger

I bought a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 last month, and really love it. It made me want to trade my HTC phone in on a Galaxy S4.

While I was getting the S4 processed, the clerk asked what color Tablet I wanted. I said I only wanted the phone, but she said they had a special, and a free Tab 3 LTE came with the phone.

I don't know if I would have bought one, primarily due to the 7" screen and low resolution. But, for a spare that I can take places I wouldn't want to take the Note 10.1, there is no way to beat the price.

Who has free one?

Who has free one?

AT&T had that deal, I'm not sure if they still have it.
I know several people that went to Sprint corporate stores to get a new GS4 (a couple of them actually got Note 3 phones) and told them about AT&T giving a free GT3 when you buy a Note 3 or a GS4.
They also said, "either you do for me what AT&T is doing or I don't get service with you anymore and move to AT&T".
And they walked out of the Sprint store with the phone and the tablet. :)

I threw on the official Book Cover on my 7.0 yesterday for $34.99 from Best Buy. I was able to get them to price-match Newegg.com.

Not sure how much I'm liking it. It's pretty slick on the surface. I'm also afraid that the cover is going to rip over time. I wish they had something like an Incipio Feather-like case for it. I may just order a bunch from TVC-mall and wait the 3 weeks for arrival from Hong Kong. TVC is only good if you order a lot of diff't cases or in bulk. I ordered about 20 items for various electronics a month ago, and all the stuff wasn't pretty good.
