Gear S2 Classic 3G/4G

I have a 4G Gear S2 Classic paired with Samsung S7 Edge and I love it. Works as it should. I know most people don't like the lack of apps but that's doesn't concern me. I get all my notifications whether it's from texts, email, Twitter, youtube, or Facebook. The texting works great. Even tgough I make small errors but I'll get better with time. The watch really earns it's cut when I'm at work. When I'm in a meeting I can use the watch so my boss won't see me typing on my phone. The calls are clear and crisp. The only thing I dislike is my watch has its own number. Call forwarding is turned on when I'm away from my phone but when I call someone, they get another number and not my cell number. Kinda big but not enough reason for me to get rid of the watch. I love it.

On. The watch go to CALL and the OUTGOING NUMBER. You can select either the watch's or phone's number.. at least I can on Verizon.

When im connected to Bluetooth it says my cell but when im away and my watch is remote, it says my watches number.

OK. I just turned off my phone and checked my watch by placing a call to another phone. Caller ID does come up with the watch phone exchange number. Interesting. I guess since the watch is in stand alone mode it uses the watch phone number and not the phone's. I was under the impression it would be the phone's #

Other than looks, are there any differences between the classic 3g and other models? I've read a few posts that say the step counter is more accurate and notifications work better. Are there actually any software or performance upgrades or improvements? I thought it was just looks

You can make calls or text without having to be connected via Bluetooth. You can use gps. You still get notifications even if your not connected.

I ride a motorcycle, the recent tropical storm through Florida caused me to bum a ride to work, and like an ***** I left my phone in their car. But the watch went in to stand alone mode so I was able to call the driver and let them know my phone was still in their car! Yay Samsung Gear S2 Classic! Guys at work were amazed! I put watch in power save mode and still had 87% battery in the morning! Yes, this watch is great!

The value of the wearable being 3g and having a phone number attached to it is to allow it to act in a stand alone 3g model cell phone capacity. The speaker is good but if you pair a BT headset to the wearable you can have normal dialog as a 2005 cell phone (which is no different than today's call placement services).

When the "BT tethered" wearable is within the BT range of the host smartphone it WILL use the host smartphone number; as soon as it leaves its community (typically between 30 and 100 feet in an open space, buildings and walls have an impact) the device becomes its own host. This is in order to allow the device to BE stand-alone, such as when you're out running without your smartphone on your arm and you get attacked by wild animals, you can call for help.... .

If you have set up call forwarding on the watch or vice versa in the phone (can't remember which direction it went when I initially set up watch) when watch is in standalone mode it will text and make calls as your main phone number.
