Getting Rid of HTC 10

I get that lots of people are irritated with the polarized sunglasses issue, but for those who are on the fence about the device, go look at one first. Not every set of polarized lenses are the same and polarization can be implemented at different angles. Different sunglasses will show the phone to be fine in landscape and others will be fine in portrait. I have zero issues with my sunglasses and this phone in portrait.

As for the camera issues that chillywill and others are talking about w/ overexposed areas in photos, you might not know that HTC is no longer metering the photo based on the spot you're focusing on. If you tap the screen it will focus on that spot and you'll see a little vertical bar that allows you to quickly swipe up or down to increase or decrease exposure. It feels a little counter-intuitive at first but after a couple of days with it I began to prefer this method. I feel like it gives me a little more individual control even in auto mode. Now if they would just give me a Photosphere mode...

Exactly. I am outside often and wear my sunglasses quite a bit. I have a huge head (lol) and I am picky about which ones I wear. I'm not going to go out and pay hundreds of dollars for new sunglasses in addition to the 700 dollars I spent on a new phone. My iPhone screen is able to be viewed perfectly fine with polarized lenses so ... Back to the iPhone I go.

The htc 10 was almost about to pull me away. But it couldn't happen unfortunately.

I have never been able to view my iPhone outside with sunglasses on and not have the screen brightness up to 100%. I honestly haven't noticed a real difference with it from any other phone I have had. I have only found 2 times where I have had to jack my brightness up to 100%. With this device normally I use it at 25-50% all day and turn it all the way down at night. That's just been my experience so far. Also the music play back is worth the hassle of adjusting the brightness if I have to.

Returned and bought a replacement?

Hey! Just curious as to how many of you have found a defect with your HTC 10 and returned it to buy another? I've seen so many quality control issues across a lot of Android forums that I always wonder if they've rushed out products a little too early.

There is another thread regarding a yellow tint looking stain on the bottom

Re: Returned and bought a replacement?

Yeah, I just wanted to see if anyone's had better luck with their second device no matter which defect they've had.

Re: Returned and bought a replacement?

the yellow tint wil go way in about a month after the phone has been on for some time. the yellow comes form the glue not setting fully.

Re: Returned and bought a replacement?

Actually, there are several other threads on other sites that claim the pink tint is from the glue, and the yellow tint is a defect that does not go away. My phone actually had both, and the pink is gone but the yellow is still there.

Return

So like some of you I have the camera focus issue and I am also having Bluetooth issues as well. No t-mobile store where I live carries it and actually had to order over the phone. T-mobile said I would have to close out this jump at the store and get a different device. I like the HTC 10, but my only options are the LG g5, gs7 or iPhone (which I already know I won't be getting) which of the 2 would you get?

Have you gotten the update for the camera fixes yet?

Re: Return

Go with the s7. While I may prefer the g5 due to battery replacement, the s7 is a no compromise device. Best camera, great build, great battery. You shouldn't have to deal mediocrity and problems like this for a 700$ device.

Please skip to the section where she reviews the camera. https://youtu.be/1HgeoRguDhU it seems to me that HTC still blows out highlights despite the update, which is why I decided not to wait for an update. I will revisit the 10 after the update to give it one last chance.

Even if you disagree with her, she's still really hot and she knows her stuff. But, I don't think she even mentioned how great audio was on the 10. Oh well, she did review the camera post update and it seems that it still loses detail in overblown highlights. That's something i absolutely despise in a camera. You don't realize how much overblown highlights detract from your photograph until you see one that doesn't do it.

No compromise except for the one called Touch wiz which covers the entire phone

In her review she says the majority of the time these issues with the camera don't occur.
Even professional photographers with thousands of dollars of equipment don't take perfect pictures everytime.

I just installed a theme (dark) and then use Google now Launcher. It's how I've been doing my phones since I tried out the 6P.

The problem is I don't have a pink tint and if it was the glue I would have a pink tint. I have had phones that had a yellow tint and they have gone away after a month other phone constantly being on. This is not a issue that is common it is usually the first probably hundred or so that come off the line. The glue just have not had time to set. Like I said I don't have a pink tint at all but I did have a small yellow tint that will probably go away in a couple weeks.

Re: Return

THIS...Are we still in an age where we are deciding on our phones based on the skin? Come on people, as suggested above, a simple launcher like google now makes your phone look and feel just like a Nexus device.

Agreed. The yellow tint usually will go away once the glue settles down.

Well, I've had my phone since May 6, and the yellow tint is exactly the same. If you Google yellow tint, you'll see huge problems with HTC in the past as well as the OnePlus One phone. In any event, I have a new one coming to me, so we'll see how the new one is.
