Getting your replacement Nexus 7...

I requested on Saturday but have not received the e-mail yet. Customer service did tell me about the hold they will put on the account once they ship my replacement. I am assuming that means that you keep and use the original Nexus until you receive the replacement and then you ship back the original.

You'll get one either tonight or tomorrow morning. And correct, you have 20 something days, 21 I think. Don't hold me to that.

Don't take this wrong, but I hope all you people requesting replacement tablets (rightfully so) are put behind those of us that have not received our first unit yet.

Would you be singing the same song if you received a bad tablet?

They say you have 21 days to return the defective device otherwise you will be charged for the second tablet.

Also, it took 3 business days for them to email me my return info after I called and told them about the glass separation.

After talking with customer service again, they won't be sending me a new one until they receive the old unit. This is contrary to how you guys are describing your experience. Google also told me that my order was stamped "priority". No clue what that's supposed to mean.

I actually emailed them after seeing your post and this is the response:

"Sorry for the confusion.

You have 21 days to send back your original device, so if you want to keep it until the new one arrives, that is fine. It should get to you in the next week and a half.

Let me know if you have any other questions."

They got back to me fast, like a few minutes fast. A bit relieved that I don't need to send it in first.

Had they told me that in the original email, or when I was on the phone with them, I wouldn't have sent it today... oh well. But thanks for the clarification.

I am exchanging my Nexus through the Play Store for glass separation. Since all you do is authorize the 249.00, I guess this is how some people could purchase a second tablet without tax or shipping.

I emailed Google yesterday about the issues I'm having with my Nexus 7. This afternoon they replied back with a return label and a link to request a replacement unit. They put a $250 hold on my card, but said that should go away after a few days.

I went through the process and received the emails from Google on the 19th. I placed my new order, but Google has not yet shipped a replacement tablet. Anyone get a tracking number for their replacement? I see my order in the play store but nothing further.

I went through the email process and requested a replacement. The email said the estimated ship time is less than a week. 16gb.

I would love to get my hand on replacement tablet but the closet ups store from where i live closed down and now it would take me at least an hour to get to another ups store. Im not sure if its worth it.

My local Gamestop just called me to let me know mine was in (I have the raised screen)

Where did you email them from? I've been looking for a support email and can't find it. I have the same issue on my Nexus 7. I'd call but I don't have time to wait on hold for 30 minutes like last time.

Nevermind found the spot to email them.

I just got an email from Google (got one from UPS a little earlier) saying my replacement shipped. So it's coming earlier then the week and a half estimate that was in the email from yesterday.

16g model for those wondering.

Okay just had an in depth conversation with a Google rep. and my understanding is there are two ways to handle the replacement process:

1. Use the label from the email and original packaging with the completed RMA and send in your defective unit, and wait for a replacement (using this method does not require a hold on your credit/debit card)

2. Order the replacement and have Google place a hold on your card for the original MSRP, no taxes/shipping) and when the replacement arrives (no matter how long - so could be longer than 21 days using this method) you box up the defective unit and include the RMA and use the label they sent and mail back the defective unit. This method requires you mail back the defective unit within 7 days of receiving the replacement. After they receive your defective unit and inspect it to make sure you did not cause the damage (probably look to see if its unlocked or rooted ~ so a factory reset and unroot, relock should be done) they unfreeze the original MSRP and hopefully all is good.

As it happens the rep I talked to was very cool and from where I now live. He answered all my questions and took the time to explain both avenues available to customers who received the defective units.

Hope this helps

MIne shipped also. Tuesday, I received the e-mail requesting the hold on my account for the replacement. Wednesday, the Nexus shipped. UPS sent me an e-mail listing Friday as the delivery date. I guess they have some 16GBs sitting around afterall.

Me too. My replacement will be here tomorrow. Pretty quick process overall.
