so, i've told my daughter's mother for 2 years that if she signs a new contract she loses unlimited data. not only that her monthly / annual costs will go up. i've told her a million times to buy the phone outright.

so, tonight she comes home with a new s6 and says, i think i got screwed. yup, i says.

she got the new edge plan or whatever it is and will be paying 600 or so more annually than she was.

is there any way she can get vzw to switch her back to the old plan?

she's on the phn w/ cust serv right now and the first person said no. right now we're waiting for the manager.

input is appreciated. thank you.

She can cancel the contract she's now on within 15 days, but any change to an unlimited plan cancels it. So there's no unlimited plan for her to "go back to" - it no longer exists.

However ... the retention deprtment has done some things that "can't be done". If you've been a customer for a while, speak to them about having to switch carriers because of losing the unlimited plan. It's their job to keep you as a customer - and the retention manager can make the whole change suddenly "not have happened" (assuming she returns the phone in brand-new condition).

Yes it can be done. Since she's still in her return period she can go back and say she wants to return the phone and wants to go back to her old plan. They may fight it but it can be done.

If they won't put her back, tell her to switch to T-Mobile...the have a very reasonable truly unlimited data plan or, if that's too much, their normal data plans have no overage charges...they just slow you down after you hit your allotted amount. If T-Mobile is good in her area, could be a great option.

They will. She just has to push it (or him) -- but they will give it back eventually. Just may take a call or two ... to management.... as long as she is in the return window. If outside it .. then yes you're out of luck.

Verizon is starting to iratate me also but make no mistakes about it there coverage is the best never a call or service issue in 5 years I had every other carrier and the only one that comes close to and near coverage is AT&T

we'll try cust serv mgmt again. I think she's resolved to the fact that she lost unlimited data and is now more concerned with being in the edge plan.

same thing happened to me, I moved to t mobile (for a week) when the nexus 4 came out. I had been a customer since 2001. took some barking and had to go up the ladder, but they eventually gave it back to me. been using it for 3 years now

That seems a lot of money over a year..here in the UK (I`m with T mobile/EE) and I`ve got my Gold 32gb S6 for £26 ($40?)per month with unlimited calls & texts & 10gb of data and no upfront charges.

Return the phone and go back to old plan. This had been done many times over the last couple years.

Yeah, girls are the worst and don't listen. But anyway, good luck with her and Verizon. (another worst)
