Go Launcher Ex Redraws

I love all the options in go launcher but I hate the slow redraws of desktop icons. It's particularly bad when I activate rotate to landscape desktop option but happens even if that option isn't used. Persistant in memory under advanced options reduces it a little but not entirely.

I do use a miui theme. I don't know if that would make it worse?

Is this a go launcher trait or just a slow rom problem?

Have you tried thudershed over at rootzwiki? Uses go ex and runs pretty well.

Aosp lacks some sense elements I need.
When you rotate does the entire screen redraw at once or do you see the icons coming back one at a time?

I had this same problem with adw launder ex. I can't find the page right now, but if you're rooted, I used a tip I found on one of the forums. Google something like "reduce Android screen redraw" and see what pops up. The solution I found involved going into root explorer and entering a command that kept the launcher at the top of the memory.

I'll look tomorrow and see if I can find it.

Is this the one you mean? It seems to be used primarily by Motorola Droid users and I can't find the exact steps to undo it (assuming it doesn't completely brick my phone from the get-go)

I'll wait to see if a t-bolt user has a solution shown to be safe and working on a t-bolt using go launcher ex. The other thing is go launcher has a choice to remain in memory and I did pick it so the below may not do anything anyway. It's funny I read through 25 pages of posts and although several people ASKED there was no clear answer to how to
remove that toggle from: /data/ local.prop
nor whether the code had to be entered in all caps.

I don't know what the following means or specifically how to do it.
If you want to undo what this command does, simply remove that toggle from: /data/ local.prop

I don't know if the following command should be all caps nor how to know if it was applied properly once done.

If you use ADW or LauncherPro and if after using your browser, email or any other apps for awhile, then if you press the 'HOME' button, if it takes forever to redraw your home screen, and you are sick of that HORRIBLE LAG, then try this: In a terminal,
type su and enter.
Then type echo ro.HOME_APP_ADJ=1 >> /data/local.prop and enter.
Then reboot.
Now evaluate whether or not this fixes your lag.

If you want to undo what this command does, simply remove that toggle from: /data/ local.prop

I hope some people can use this.

Running liquid vigorsense I do get some lag from go launcher ex (and the ROM in general). Gingeritis was much faster, so it might be a ROM issue for you as well.

I'm not rooted but I was running into similar issues with overall lag with Go Launcher Ex . I switched to Launcher PRO and haven't looked back. It's not as customizable with the free version but I haven't really missed the extras. The only significant feature you lose is Go Locker Exchange but the free Magic Locker has similar features.

I don't know how this thread got sidetracked. I don't have lag. I have redraws when exiting an app and returning to the launcher. This happens most often if the app runs in landscape view. Although my go launcher is set for portrait view only and persistant in memory the launcher seems ti begin to draw a landscape view one icon at a time then it switches to portrait. Portrait view the loads quickly and all at once rather than drawing on icon at a time.

I will put up with redraws if necessary. I like the go launcher miui theme.

Some might refer to that redraw issue as a kind of lag since in fact, it causes a kind of lag, or slow down of your GUI. In my case, I was having your problem, with the slow icon redraw which was really bugging me, as well as some lag. But, I had it set to auto-rotate, I did not have it locked on portrait.
I suspect that others have the redraw problem also and there's no immediate solution.
I have a friend with a Bionic with the same problem.
In the absence of an obvious known solution to the redraw problem, an alternate solution might be another launcher.

Yes redraws are much worse when home page is set to rotate. I've read about the same phenomenon in all launchers including sense so I'm not sure changing launchers would cure it.
