Go to a Verizon store? Post your thoughts here!

Just been to my local EE store this morning to compare, like every other UK member the handsets were locked down so much which was annoying.

So the blue tint wasn’t noticeable to me but I do think the P2 was less noticeable compared to P2XL.

But the most noticeable thing I could see was the colour of the XL, the reds were particularly dull and like another post said the colour was almost maroon than red. I compared to the P2 and the P2 had better red reproduction.

I also tried to find a white page but had to screenshot a notes page in order to see what the display was like when the brightness was all the way done. I could not find anything which was noticeable on both but on the XL I thought I could see slight banding running from top to bottom.

Overall I would say the XL was a brighter display but the colour representation was better on the P2.

Also I had auto brightness off, brightness to Max and vivid colours turned on for both devices (n.b. Turning vivid off done nothing from what I saw).

The V30 video camera just got slammed hard. Let's not discuss the V30 anymore. If this is how the V30 records, it should be thrown in the trash and lit on fire with it's ashes flushed.

No blue tint or shade in the UK: https://youtu.be/iJLqsyKvlCU

The V30 camera sample is pretty bad. If you hadn't said anything, I might've thought it was some kind of effect, but that's not good. Hopefully fixable in software.

I want the worst viewing angles possible. In fact, I want that new HP laptop feature they have to switch a button that makes your screen unreadable to anyone beside you.

Never understood why on smartphones people want great viewing angles, so others next to you can see exactly what you are doing. These aren't TVs for our living room!

The Verge sumes it up for us

The problem gets much worse when you look at the screen from angles, the color swings simply because that's what pOLED does.

The Verge might got the bad unit. I didn't say V30 screen is the best but I tried to say if pixel XL and V30 used the same display then it doesn't look that bad.

I owed almost all flagship I know how the screen look at least on my V30 the blue tint is much better than last week.(I don't know why but much better like the blue tint is almost gone) and I don't have any vertical band or uneven screen at all. For now when I looked at my V30 at the same angle I haven't seen any blue at all ( more like gray now)

I mean a lot of you guys here cancel your pre ordered because you see blue tint on demo unit at Verizon..at least you should wait for retail unit or even wait for a week of used..if you still not happy return it and get whatever you want.

I get the V30 because I like the look of the phone better and I definitely get the XL 2 but maybe next year on swappa.

I went to a Verizon store and saw the pixel 2 XL and immediately had buyer's remorse. The washed out colors on the display are immediately noticeable blue tint is there but doesn't really bother me. I just can't get past the lack of color on that display. It's just downright awful. I was really looking forward to this one though. Pre-order cancelled. I hope Google will go back to using AMOLED displays for next year's model and just drop LG.

It was a deal breaker for me too. Software great but you're looking at that sub par screen all day. Skipping this one.

The Pixel 2 bezels really aren't bad at all , like the size of the phone , display was ok , now im on the fench again N8 arriving Thursday
Xl display in this store was dead

I'd be very wary of anything LG. The 6p and 5x are notorious for boot loop problems.

Ok so what are people's impressions on the regular Pixel 2's display brightness and colour vibrancy?

I just looked at it ,size is good ajusted font up to see easier ajusted britness changed wallpaper cruzied the web ,very responsive phone , display was nice but no wow factor, for me choice would be pure Android , camera Easy carry size , still on the fence
Bezels didn't stand out to much i like a flat display over curved

I stopped by the Verizon store on state street in Chicago over lunch today. Both the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL were on display there. No shoppers even seemed interested, so I almost missed them. I can't speak to the blue hue on the XL, but my first gut impression is that the XL phone looks and feels less premium than the V30 and Note 8 in the hand. By spec, I know it's not thicker than the Note 8, but it felt thicker. The bezel doesn't help, but as you can see in the pick, it makes it look a little old school chunky - so my mind could be playing tricks on me.

The screen color popped nicely, but having owned a 1st gen Pixel XL, I didn't play too much with the software. I took a quick snapshot in that darkly-lit room and I think the camera definitely handles it quite well. Not surprised because it's a Pixel, but it performed better in that lighting than the V30 in the display next to it. To be honest, I'm not a Samsung fanboy by any means, but my current S8+ and the Note 8 on the stand nearby in the store both feel better in the hand to me.

I only had a few minutes, but work right across the street from the store, and would be willing to go back and look for anything specific.
