Go to a Verizon store? Post your thoughts here!

So to ask/repeat... The unlocked Pixel 2 I'm getting from google will work with Verizons's WiFi Calling, as well as Advanced Calling in order to get Voice and internet at the same time?
Correct

Can all of the people claiming to cancel their 2XL Panda please do so as quickly as possible? I'll enjoy an earlier ship date.
KThanxBye :D

Re: Hands on at Verizon

The sound quality/loudness of alerts, rings has to be improved with 2 front speakers vs 1 down firing

One thing I've felt about me XL is high volume isn't very high

I compare the pixel 2 with my pixel right next to it. Front facing speakers not noticeably louder, and when you pointed the rear facing speaker of the pixel towards you it was louder than the front facing speaker of the pixel 2.

Screen
Software
Sound quality
Camera

That's what I'm after, I put mine in a case so feel is not important.. I hope the screen. Is at least as good as my XL. I doubt it's as good as a note 8
I had my pixel right next to the pixel 2, the front facing speakers were not noticeably louder at all. As a matter of fact, when I pointed the bottom of my pixel towards me, it was louder than the front facing speakers of the pixel 2

I enabled sRGB mode on my Pixel XL in order to have more accurate colors. When you first make the change the display feels almost dull and subdued but then that goes away and things feel more accurate.

I wonder if the Pixel 2 XL is tuned that way out of the box and that is why some are disappointed when seeing the display. I'll need to see if I can get to a Verizon store later and compare with my Pixel XL.

Yes.. and yes.

I got to try out a Pixel 2 XL and a V30 this evening at a local Verizon store and I'm really struggling between the two! In my opinion, the hardware of the V30 is more impressive, but the software on the Pixel 2 is far superior.

Unless all you do is simply hold and look at the outside of your phone, the phone's software will likely have a larger impact on your daily experience with it, so...

Yeah, I seriously question the guy who claims new Pixel isn't "loud enough". They are not loud hifi speakers, but front facing stereo imaging should theoretically provide must better sound fidelity than current Pixel which is mediocre at best. You can't beat physics in this case. It is like saying one major leaguer can hit home run further with one hand compared to another with two.

Re: Demo units should be in VZW stores 10/12

You're awesome sir!

What'd you think of the screen size with the new aspect ratio? Meaning the screen on the v20 definitely "seems" bigger compared to the galaxy s8 die to the tall and skinny screen and curved sides. Did you get that feeling with the xl? Also, general screen quality compared to the v20 and note 8 if you have any experience with that phone.

I didn't notice a big difference but then again I wasn't making that much of a deliberate comparison. I'm thinking of going to local store near since I'm off to take another look. I'm going to bring my headphones this time but I doubt they will pull an adaptor so I can plug it in especially if the alarm is rigged to the connector

Maybe it was just a bad unit then. All other reports I have seen stated the opposite of this ...

My Pixel XL has two downward facing speakers. I was pleasantly surprised over the volume. I traded in my Nexus 6P which had loud speakers and was very concerned about the PXL's volume.
I don't use headsets, only speakers so it's important to me. It's sounding like the P2XL has a loud volume also.

As I just stated in another thread about volume concern, the speakers sound really great. They are very loud and clear. I have the U11, which has really good audio quality for being a main down firing speaker, and the Pixel XL was comparable if not better.

The phone looks really great based on my time with it yesterday. My only real concern is the quality of the display. I would be coming from a U11 which has a pretty good LCD. Somebody mentioned that maybe the Pixel is set to sRBG mode out of the box which might be true. I just changed my U11 settings from Vivdo to sRBG and it immediately became duller to me, which is how I felt with the Pixel XL. I'm still excited for the phone and especially for Google Fi!

Here are a few things I'll need to get used from my current experience:

1. Lack of SD card. I'm getting the 128gb version so probably won't matter but I like to keep my media files on the SD card just in case.

2. Front facing home button. For example, when I was playing a youtube video on the pixel yesterday, I wasn't sure how to go back home. On my U11 I just press the home button. Does the Google Pixel fingerprint scanner also work as a home button?

3. Expanded edge sense functionality. I absolutely love it on my U11 - not gimmicky at all imo. I hope they add the advanced features (i.e. long squeeze) like they have it on the U11.

Like many others I am really nervous about some people not liking the Pixel 2 xl. I pre orderd it and will try to stop at a vzw store to check them out. Worst comes to worst I return the phone when it arrives if I dont like it.
I absolutely do appreciate everyone thoughts when they went and checked out the phones. Keep em coming.

just had a look at the pixel 2 XL in an EE store in the UK. I was surprised to see it there.

not the best demo as the phone was quite locked down and kept popping up saying it was a demo unit when trying to explore all functionality. also have to say it felt pretty cheap to me. I was surprised but having just had a play with the iPhone 8 plus there was a definitely a difference to me in terms of feel.

I'm considering going back to the iPhone and the pixel 2 XL was my last hope to keep me android. not so sure now!

For everyone questioning the display on the XL (blue tint, etc.); are you able to go into Settings and adjust Screen Color (Normal, Best for movies, Best for photos, Best for web, and Custom) or is that option not available on the Pixel 2 XL as it is on the V30?

Re: Hands on at Verizon

Nice post. I actually decided to leave the LG lineup this time around and I'm anticipating my 2 unlocked ones to come in the mail. I'll check in on your pics in the V30 forum if you check in on mine here. Hahah just kidding. I'll be hovering there anyway.
I'm actually considering the 2 XL. The biggest negative for me is that there is no upgrade path outside of paying off the phone in full since T-Mobile doesn't carry it. That's the biggest hurdle. Also I would have to give up on an awesome manual mode, QuadDAC, and superior audio recording quality and microSD expansion. I just have to really analyze if all that is worth a great auto camera and front facing speakers. I'm not concerned about having the latest version of Android as long as the phone runs fast and smooth and is secure. There's so many great choices right now but the V30 is my number 1 and the Pixel 2 XL is like a 1.a but with more compromises. But the camera and hardware could put me over the top. And the selfie camera is amazing on the Pixel. I'm just waiting for all the reviews and mainly my guy Juan Bagnell's Real Camera Reviews from both. Of course the third option is simply keeping the reliable V20.

There is a way -- Google does financing. I did it when I was on T-Mobile. I am even on Verizon now but went through the Google Store and financed it the same way again :).

Re: Just tested pixel 2 and 2 xl at verizon store (my thoughts)

One observation from playing with the software: with live wallpapers, the home screen icons parallax when you tilt the phone. When I switched to a static image, there was no parallax effect. I'm coming from a 5X, so maybe this was also the case with the original Pixel.

I know about the financing but if I want to upgrade halfway in between paying off the device like I can now, would that still be possible?

Technically no since T-Mobile doesn't officially carry it off. I assume you mean pay half off, trade in, and then upgrade?
