Can someone turn down britness to see if there is banding like reported with LG since its the same screen tks....

I would tell them I would only buy if they can give it to you early :P.
Nice thought but I'm not that lucky, he did say pre-order, funny thing is when the N8 was on pre-order they didn't have a display eather.

I went to the store and compared the new Pixels to my OG Pixel XL. The new XL 2 feels a lot thinner and sleeker than the OG XL. I also took a photo of the red Verizon wall on the XL 2 as well as on the OG XL, and the colors were noticeably more accurate on the XL 2 and less oversaturated. I played a song by Pink! on the front facing speakers, and the sound was a lot better than the OG XL. They only had the black XL2 and the blue Pixel2 in the store to try. The XL was a lot nicer looking and feeling than the smaller one, but to me the biggest difference was the screens. They had the phones at the front desk, and not attached to anything yet, so I was able to compare them right next to each other. Both of them had the same background and the same brightness, but the XL was noticeably brighter and crisper and the whites were noticeably whiter than on the smaller Pixel. Also, when holding the 2 phones next to each other, the bezels look really ugly and big on the smaller Pixel. Definitely happy with my order of the XL2.

I guess the xl i was using had a bad screen because my experience was the complete opposite. I felt like the smaller pixel had better colors, contrast and viewing angles.

How was the screen on your XL compared to the XL2?

I currently have the Nexus 6p and was going to upgrade to the P2xl but am now questioning that after seeing them today in the VZW store. The P2xl was almost the exact same size as my 6p and I was hoping it would be a little smaller. I was most impressed with the V30. I have owned almost every Nexus device in the past but I'm a little bummed I wasn't as impressed with the P2xl as I hoped.

My XL was a little more saturated than the XL2, which I thought had more accurate colors. I did think my XL had a better screen than the smaller Pixel 2.

I went in one and the XL wasn't charging so it was dead. played with the pixel 2 it looked and felt great. the XL2 is a definite upgrade over my 6P

I can't recall from the announcement, but are there display profiles for the 2 xl? I'm sure there pixel will be an upgrade over the screen on my v20, but man is the note 8 screen beautiful.

I agree with you, I went and played with them and liked the smaller screen better and felt the build quality was cheap on the 2 XL.

Re: Demo units should be in VZW stores 10/12

I just left my local Verizon store and they did not have a floor model for the phone. They did say they have some in stock, but he didn't know when they would be displaying them.

I did play around a little with an LG v30. How does that compare to a pixel 2 XL in size?

This site is awesome for comparing sizes. Click on the button near the top to view them side by side.

I have mix emotions about the XL2, does not feel premium at all, the aluminum in the back feels like plastic, I'm bummed, my current first generation Xl does feel like a premium phone, and the back aluminum feels real metal, this new one seems that they painted the surface and apply a plastic sort of clear coat. The speakers sounds inferior than my previous than Pixel HTC M8. in other words the LG made new Pixel XL has a cheap finish texture that I can not live with it. I will cancel my pre order and stay with my current Pixel XL, hopefully next year they will improve.

I don't know if the store in my town will have it. They still don't have the V30 out for display and I have been there twice already!

I agree with most everything you say here, but I am going to get a 2 and 2 XL anyways and try them before I give up. I might grab a 1st Gen Pixel to use as a spare if I can find a good deal used. I'm using a Note 8 on AT&T right now after I gave by OG Pixel XL to my wife to replace her Galaxy S7 Active. She loves the Pixel in comparison to that.

That not an indicator of whether they put out the Pixels. A Verizon store in New York city did not have the V30

Just came back from using both phones at a Verizon store. I agree with others that have said the quality of the XL 2 doesn't feel as nice as its smaller brother. The way the screen sits on the body and the edges of the phone don't have a premium feel. The other thing I noticed (and somebody else next to me noticed too) was that the screen isn't as bright as expected and the viewing angles were not that great on the XL 2 but how often do you really look at your phone from the side? I will say that other OLEDs in the store really jumped out in terms of brightness compared to the new pixel phones.

This was my first real experience handling a stock android phone and I tested against my U11, and I was impressed by the phone's speed. In real world use you probably won't notice it a ton, but everything loaded much quicker on the pixel. Probably a combination of a new phone and optimization.

Lastly, I tested the camera and was impressed but not blown away. Not a huge camera guy but my impression was that most phones nowadays take really good pictures and my untrained eye can't spot significant differences.

I was concerned when reviewers said Pixel 2 has a coating over alluminum. I cannot understand that decision either.

However, I am not buying Pixel 2 for premium feel. I am buying for the Android experience and camera. Also the inflated trading value of my Pixel was the final push I needed cause I am still having Bluetooth issues.
