I agree, but thats the only one I can think of.

Android does have continuity...Chrome to phone allows me to transfer web pages immediately to my phone. But it doesn't work in the other direction.

That's not all it does. It works for email, photos, messages, calendar, browser, and all of their work suite. Most if those things work with Android, but you need to use the browser on your computer's respective OS. Which is not the case with iOS/OS X continuity. I'm sure there are more things it does, bit since I don't have an iPhone I never bothered reading up on all of what it offers.

The Nexus 5 is completely up to date, and has the fastest UI of any Flagship phone.


I don't get why this is an issue...on Android you can just copy it to the cloud or to a PC. On Apple you can upload it to iTunes.

I download using torrent apps on my phone but i will work around it if i was to change.. The point is i don't use a cpu to update my music.. Thats time spent that i don't have to spend now..

My first question to anyone switching would be: What is on the iPhone that makes you want to switch? I mean what specifically?

1. Top performers on android are over 5" now.. Too big..

2. The only phone that has the size i want, build quality i want, good camera, and enough storage options... Now iOS... Thats the hold up but I've never given apple a fair shot



The main reason we bash Apple is for their lack of functionality...they charge more for a phone that does less. The Nexus 5 is half the price of the iPhone 5S, and still outperforms it, even with a larger display. That should not be happening.

I love android but that's subjective out perform in what way.. Camera no, storage options no, availability no, support of third parties no... Nexus is great but not better.. maybe better for u... Same as for iPhone.... We have to be honest now.. It's all even depending on what u need..

I think I'm going to give it a try, at least for the 14 day return period. As much as I like my Moto X the lingering signal drop issues, poor camera, and ongoing security update issues have me considering other options. The Moto X really convinced me 4.7 is the right size device for me (and that I don't care about resolutions above 720p), but there aren't a lot of options available with Android anymore.

My biggest concern is the notification system. Motorola's Active Notification system aside iOS's notification center really lacks compared to Android's. I like being able to see a persistent icon for a notification until I dismiss it, and the notification info on a pulldown seems to sync up with the current status a lot better on Android than iOS (maybe it's just me. On my iPad I always seems to have notifications from crazy stuff days ago.)

I have old notifications on my M8 too it annoys me!!

Right... Google only requires a FREE cross-platform browser for you to access the continuity features... Linux, Windows, OSX and yes... even iOS... To get at all those iOS 8 continuity features, you're stuck with Apple everything. Everyone is making far too big a deal over a feature that is only available only for 1 out of every 15 desktops. Yet again, Apple thumbs their nose at anyone with the nerve to not buy EVERYTHING from Apple.

Except it's not continuity in the way that it works on iOS/OS X. Functionally it has mostly the same end results, but it's not AS good. And it's not meant for you to buy everything from Apple (although I'm sure they hope that you do. But then again, every OEM hopes that you buy more products from them). It's for those who are already invested in the Apple ecosystem. I would love for it to work as easily on Android and not have to rely on the browser to always do those kind of things. But not enough that I'd change OSes.

Nexus is great but not better..

• 3rd party app integration (for everything, not just keybaords) without jailbreaking - This is probably the biggest thing IMO
• Desktop widgets, without jailbreaking
• Full application interoperability (apps can talk directly to each other) without jailbreaking
• Remote app install from a PC to any Android device with your GMail account on it
• The ability to sideload or use alt markets, without jailbreaking (this also means Android is basically immune to censorship)
• A real file system and a file manager that can be used on the phone, without jailbreaking
• Free wifi calling on any Android device, regardless of carrier or platform

IMO that = better.

We heard the same thing before Apple got widgets and 3rd party keyboards and large displays. All that was stuff "we don't need anyway", and yet now is suddenly in demand. What changed? Why is it vital now but it wasn't before?

Steve Jobs himself was famous for poo-pooing large displays. Pretty much every Apple person I have talked to on a forum did the same thing about widgets ("omg why would you need widgets? Just open an app"). All the stuff that is "new and magical" on the iPhone 6 has already been on Android for years.

Well, "torrenting" is not a format. It's just a means of getting stuff. Once the stuff is on your phone, you can move or copy it to wherever. Once you torrent the MP3, just copy it to the cloud or your PC. iTunes will let you import MP3s if you want.

And I am pretty sure iOS also has torrenting apps now anyway.

The top performers on iOS are also almost 5" or over. The iPhone 6 is not a small phone.

Not saying you should not switch, just saying you should know what you are switching for first.

Yes, in your opinion. Better is subjective, which is something you don't seem to understand. Some people just like iOS better. Regardless of how many more features it has or how much better you think Android is.

Right... and that is a small group of people. Cook strutted around on stage and boasted about how they were going to change the way the world uses their phones and computers.... no, he's going to change the way the quite small minority of the world uses their Macbooks, iPhones and iPads...

So if I had an iPhone sitting on my desk next to my windows-running laptop, rather than my G3.... Google's version of continuity on iOS would still be orders of magnitude more useful than Apple's because I could actually use it.

Don't think so. At least in the US, that number is pretty high. The iPhone is the best selling phone on the market, and until recently, the iPad had the largest marketshare out of all tablets. So I doubt that it's less than a million who use a combo of those two.

Obviously if you aren't using two devices with Apple's OS it will not work. Continuity is for those who are using those OSs. Apple's Continuity is better with Apple devices. Other services, namely Google's, are better for cross platform. Who would've known?

If you use iOS/OS X devices, then Continuity is great. But there is no Android equivalent that works the same way.

It has better functionality. Automatically transitions to MMS if I have no cell service. Something that I have to do manually on Hangouts. Not a big deal, but the iMessage way is easier. And again, you can send messages to iOS/OS X users from the desktop.

And in several threads you have stated that iOS is worse because it has less features. It's better for you, but it's not objectively better.

It does. If you tally up all the features, there are less on iOS.

It's like someone saying a black and white TV is better because ithey are colorblind anyway...the vast majority of people are not going to agree. A color TV is objectively better. It does more. I would be allowed to say that even though that guy doesn't agree with me.

It's an opinion. The way you're saying that Android is better sounds like you're projecting it as a fact. I agree that it is better, but not because it has more features. Maybe I should have said doesn't necessarily make it better
