Google Assistant Update for S7 (where is it?)

It is not a requirement; what is required is for the launcher to utilize the proper API's in conjunction with the Google Search Widget.
Interesting, OK , thanks for the info. Didn't know how that worked. I wonder why so many launchers don't have those required API's then. After trying a lot of launchers I've yet to see this functionality. Maybe someone could chime in with their current launcher other than "google now" that it does work with. Doesn't seem to be enabled on Action 3, my current launcher.

Nova implemented it last year, I thought Action 3 did, but haven't used it for a bit so I might just be wrong.

Well, that's because Google isn't going to respond to "hey Siri..." ;)

That being said, you can do this on Android phones with Google Now, and have been able to do it before the iPhone enabled this feature. I was under the impression that Apple enabled it as a response to Google Now having done this for a while.

You have to enable your phone to do this though. It is not setup by default. You have to go into Google Now and go through the settings to enable Google Now to unlock your phone. I have been unlocking my phone with "Ok Google" for a very long time.

Maybe it's carrier specific? I have the Galaxy s7 edge running nougat on Sprint and I've never been able to wake the phone with the "OK Google" command. No option to enable it in the settings either, unless it's really buried. "trusted voice" is enabled and it still has never, not once woke up my phone.

One of the settings within trusted voice is the option to use your voice to unlock your phone

which phone is that? I have the Verizon S7 and it
just got updated to Nougat today.

Below the "From Any Screen" option, I do not see
that "Trusted Voice" on/off switch in the settings. :(

For my S7 (Verizon) it works with trusted voice while charging, but once it reaches full charge it no longer works.

I think we're all in for a big let down. I have a feeling GA is probably as half baked as most things Google. Sorry, I love Android but you have to admit Google pumps out a lot of junk. Allo, Hangouts, Duo, etc. IMO, they would be do better to focus on just a few things, and do those well. Kinda like how Apple does. Just saying.

I would like to see Alexa for Android phones.. :)

like some others, i got the update (just checked like 10 mins ago because i forgot about it) and it won't unlock the phone with the screen off. i don't know if it's because i have the fingerprint lock set or not, but if i turn on the screen it will unlock. all the lock settings are correct to unlock it, and i did do the "ok google" 3 times for it to learn my voice.

OK, what am I missing? My Google Play Services say 10.2.98 and when I hold down the home button, I don't have GA. I updated the Google App from the Play Store. Don't have GA. Should I? I'm not a beta tester for GA.
Thanks

Even if you have the proper version it still has to be activated on Google's server side.
