Google bans Huawei:Are you worried?

Hahaha what a joke. I feel sorry for anyone that undersold their phones when the sky was falling. Glad I have my phone still :)
Well you really can't find fault with those who panicked. It's easy to pass judgement now but nothing was guaranteed.

Um not too sure about that. Huawei’s night mode definitely beats Night Sight, but both are great. As someone who’s used the S10’s night mode before, it is decent but isn’t quite as good as the first two.

Well I think at night the S10 isn't that great but in daylight it beats the Pixel 3, there's no excuse for such underexposed daylight photos on the Pixels.

The exposure level is simply a personal preference. I have both the S10 plus and 3XL and find the difference isn't that great but usually prefer the Pixel in a side by side comparison.

I can admit I was nervous as well, however I was not about to "fire-sale" a brand new $1000 phone. I come from a long lost land called webOS and know full well what it's like to have a virtually unsupported phone. I would have dealt with it lol.

The Pixels underexpose too much to the point of crushing blacks and losing detail.

They indeed are but that's another matter, not gonna start listing all the American atrocities on human rights here, China is an angel in comparison.

If you believe China practices actual capitalism or human rights, I’d suggest you do some outside research if possible. Regardless of your USA opinion doesn’t change track record of China or it's recognized geopractices.

That doesn’t change the US’ track record either ._.

But let’s not get political. The point is, there is no proof of Huawei being used as a spy tool by the Chinese Government, only rhetoric from the US Government.

By banning Huawei from working with US companies, the US is harming innovation, technological progress and partnership in a barely-disguised attempt to prevent Huawei from beating US companies in the race to 5G...which they’ve already won.

And by being so indiscriminate with their blanket ban, they’ve not only hurt Huawei’s telecoms department but also their unrelated mobile division and by extension, consumers. Huawei makes some of the best phones in the world for the price, far better than the iPhone. Just look at the P20 and 30 Pros!

China practices state capitalism or capitalism with socialist characteristics, which means unlike the USA the gov and businesses cannot legally mix. Politicians can't take higher up management positions in companies then swing back & forth between political office and corporate management. In the US corporations & the gov are in bed together and corporations run things (hence why every time there's a shooting, gun control is talked about but nothing ever gets implemented. It's always profit over lives, had the Boeing debacle happened in China executives would've gone to jail already). In China corporations cannot be above the government. What's perfectly legal in the USA is considered corruption & illegal in China, so whether it's human rights or corruption/capitalism China has the better record. You're the one that needs to do outside research instead of listening to fabricated stories like "China's Muslim concentration camps" which are employment training centres. Take a look at what's happening in the US those are actual concentration camps.

China does not practice 'state capitalism'. They are communist. They are a racist, xenophobic country in there own right.
You couldn't even access this site or say what you say here, over there without getting either locked up, or have your 'social credit' reduced.
Your open anger at the USA is misplaced. There's a reason people from all over the world risk everything to come here. The combined good which America has spread throughout the world, especially in post ww2 times, is the most generous act of any nation in history. Learn about who rebuilt Europe and Japan after the war.
China does not have that 'problem'. In fact, right now, Hong Kong residents are literally in fear of their lives once China regains full control over the island.
Do some reading.

Okay, so who has the lead?

I've read some of your other posts, and recognize your myopic vision for what it is : Ignorance

LOL do you even know what Communism means? Look up the definition of the word first before spewing misinformation. Honestly posts like these are so typical of someone who doesn't know the first thing about China. Communism means everything is shared and nothing is privately owned, which is obviously not the case in China. A communist society is something close to a Utopia. Pretty sure you can access AC in China and if you truly believe Chinese people are getting locked up or having their "social credit score" reduced then you're misinformed beyond belief. Here's a little enlightenment for you, one of China's largest media groups, Southern Metropolis is notorious for attacking the CCP with every article and they've been in business for decades. The "social credit score" works the same way as credit scores in the West, except it also applies to online loans not being paid back borrowed through Ant Finance (Alipay). I was just explaining how things work in the US and how things work in China, if you take that as "open anger" then I guess you think the situation is pretty grim as well. Step out and see the world instead of just getting your news from CNN etc. If you think invading the Middle East to "protect freedom & democracy" cause of "weapons of mass destruction" counts as good then the US surely has done a whole lot of good. Ironic an extradition bill was what the US used to arrest Meng here in Canada, HK is a part of Chinese territory the HK gov was the one that proposed the bill and residents are mad now the protestors are destroying HK+driving companies out of the island. Do some more reading.

That last statement is for yourself. Pretty laughable coming from someone who can't distinguish the difference between Communism and capitalism. Right now Huawei has the lead in 5G but ZTE is also one of the leaders along with some notable ones like Nokia and Ericsson. By "lead" in the last sentence I was referring to overall technological lead, not just the lead in 5G. Technological dominance is what the trade war is about.

Re: Huawei has immediately lost access to Android and Google

Since I don't care for communists, this will be my last post for you to hopefully learn. I wouldn't want my ignorance to upset your socialist agenda.
P. S. You'll be blocked, so I won't know if you ever respond again.
Good luck

Wow, this has gotten political. But to call China (and by extension Chinese people) racist is unacceptable. Hong Kong residents aren’t ‘fearing for their lives’. They were opposing an extradition bill which allowed criminals to be extradited to mainland China. That bill has since been delayed indefinitely but the protests have shown no signs of coming to a halt.

Seriously @methodman89, try and form an argument without resorting to racist insults against an entire country and its people. You’re the ignorant one here.

ZTE and Huawei were both targeted because they were ahead of US companies in the race to 5G. That race was practically over...they’d already won, especially Huawei. But the ban was designed to harm their business as much as possible. The security fears haven’t been proven correct.

And China has an odd political system. POLITICALLY they are a Communist country. The Communist Party has an absolute grip on power. But ECONOMICALLY they are capitalist (strange I know)...that’s the reason for their economic success.

I wouldn’t say Communism is close to utopia, but at least China doesn’t have a long track record of invading other countries, changing their regimes and then causing instability. The US is a little like 2 face in a way. If they want to help you then they’re really friendly. Get on their wrong side (no matter for how small or petty a reason, especially with their current President) then it’s fire and fury. I’m not saying either of these countries is better than the other.

But my main message is, don’t call China and its people racist...that shows a sizeable degree of small-mindedness.

Note: @any Mods here what are the rules when it comes to debates/arguments? I’m trying to not directly insult anyone.

Re: Huawei has immediately lost access to Android and Google

Rather long winded yourself. You do not know me, I'm no bigot.
I'm a realist.
'But to call China (and by extension Chinese people) racist is unacceptable.'
The extension is yours, not mine.
Facts are facts. Research the mainstream Chinese cultural attitude toward Africans (its extremely racist).
Research how they really feel toward outsiders.
Don't take my word for it, but don't downplay Chinas longstanding hatred for individual liberty.
We can discuss the USA separately, as it does also have issues, but that's not relevant to the op.
Have a good day.

It’s interesting how things like these even need to be discussed. Apparently some people have lost their connection with reality so much that they have no clue whatsoever about what’s going on in the world. China is a communist state. Ask your parents what they think about communism. I’ve been to communist states before, my dad fled from one. If we lived in China, we wouldn’t be having this conversation now. If we did, we’d probably “disappear” soon.

Anyway, China’s army is about to invade Hong Kong and by doing so ending a peaceful time for the area were freedom of speech and personal liberty still existed. Instead of defending China, it may be better to pray for the protestors in Hong Kong that will be slaughtered and silenced by mainland China.

Yes, to be a Hong Kong resident is to be quite anxious now.
Additionally to be any minority in mainland China is more difficult now.
And my social credit score for writing this would probably prevent me from traveling and destroy my livelihood.
- Interesting that the USA for 50 years bans even a Cuban cigar, because it was from a communist Russian sattelite country. Yet, we have no problem with buying $1500 iPhones and pretty much every skew in wallyworld, made in China, all the while ignoring the same reasons why we prohibited Cuban goods.
Follow the money as they say.
To conclude - Communism bad. Capitalism good. Personal freedoms good. Social credit coersion bad.

China’s army isn’t about to invade Hong Kong. The garrison in Hong Kong can only intervene if the HK Government asks it to do so, and that option has been firmly opposed by the HK Gov. The massing along the border was just an annual drill and show of force. China is a communist state, and compared to the West there are fewer civil liberties but it’s made out to be far worse by people like you and some in the media. I should know because I’ve been to China and many in my family have been there or lived there. Every country has its own cultural attitude...you may think China’s is racist (I disagree).

But this debate is going nowhere. You think I’m out of touch, I think you’re wrong. Neither of us is going to change our minds anytime soon. We’re simply wasting our time trying to change the mind of someone who won’t.

This entire thread has gone way off topic, far too political and this stalemate is beneath me (and probably you). The conversation is about Huawei phones being blocked from cooperating with US companies, not about our thoughts about China. This has gotten far too political and we should stick to Huawei, Google and the effects of the ban.
