Google bans Huawei:Are you worried?

I was lucky and I'm able to return my Huawei but the seller is playing games with the shipping label. I understand about losing money. I sold my One Plus 6 with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage that cost me $629 and I sold it for $350. Then PayPal took a chunk and Ebay will take a big chunk and I had to pay shipping costs too.
Yeah that's a big hit to take .

I think u jumped the ship to soon...iam 100% sure all the issues will be solved within a month ....and worst case scenario our phones would not get updates...but phone would still work same and great...

Well, I didn't jump the boat too soon as it turns out. I returned my Huawei with the provided shipping label. Then a couple days later, the phone was in my mailbox! It had a red stamp on it that said it needed an additional $11.20 of postage. I called Ebay and told them I was not paying for the shipping. Ebay said they'd give the seller 5 additional days to send me a new shipping label. The guy then sent me a "picture" of a curled up shipping label, not a downloadable and printable label. I then noticed the shipping label was for 10 ounces. So, I contacted the seller again and told him to put the proper weight down and stop stalling and playing games and I told him to send me a downloadable shipping label. Then the guy recognized that Ebay did not grant a 5 day extension like I was promised by Ebay. So the seller took advantage of that and asked for a case to be closed because the phone wasn't returned on time, because the seller gave me a shipping label with no paid shipping. I called Ebay and they did have the notes saying there was supposed to be a 5 day extension to let the seller give me a new label, but then Ebay also saw that the seller was playing games by sending me a pic of a shipping label that again didn't have enough shipping on it. A supervisor got involved and said that they reversed the ruling. They credited my account $264.95 and told me I could keep the phone and didn't have to mess around with sending it back. So, a free Huawei Mate 20 Lite is a much better deal. Now, problem is that I have my new Samsung A50 and despite some of it's bugs, I mostly like it. What to do.......

Re: Huawei has immediately lost access to Android and Google

I think I Huawei Watch GT is the greatest. I don't want or a smartphone on my wrist. I just want something to supplement my smartphone and the Watch GT does a great job at it. I will be holding on to mine.
Yeah, the Huawei Watch GT is a really good option for those that want a fitness tracker with some smart watch features and 1-2 weeks battery life. Also looks nice and seems very durable Really no reason to ditch the GT since it runs Huawei's Lite OS.

It does seem like a really great buy and product! I love my Fitbit but if I had to consider another watch, it'd be Huawei.

Well Huawei has one more customer back in the USA. Ebay did indeed refund my account $264.95 for the Huawei phone and I was allowed to keep it, actually was told I had to keep it and not to communicate with the seller. I still thought that was too good to be true so I kept it in the box. I've been using a Samsung A50 and there are definitely some pros and some major cons. Both the Face ID and Touch ID don't work even after I've deleted and rescanned multiple times. My biggest issue is that when I first got it, one night I had it charging and when I reached to grab the phone, it was so hot that it burned my fingers! But then I needed a phone so I kept using it and the charging every night afterwards was normal and it didn't get hot. The phone is the buggiest phone I've ever had though. But last night it was charging while sitting on my leather couch, fake leather most likely, and the phone got so hot that it melted a small spot in the leather. So I contacted the company and they insist after this has happened twice, that I return the Samsung. So, now I'm back to using the Huawei. I look at it like this....it may not ever get any updates but as long as it works and continues to work with Android, I'll use it until it dies. It ended up being a free phone and therefore if and when it does die, I'll just get something else down the line.

Bit annoyed that I only bought myself and my wife a Huawei Mate 20 Pro each on 31st January... Even at a price match of £650 each we're not going to claw much back from what I have seen on eBay. Seems there are no consumer rights either for those of us who purchased in the UK.

Gutted is an understatement. I guess you can only be safe with Google or Apple phones. And I really don't get on with Apple products.

Waste of money. Not fair. Just got to suck it up eh.

Completely understand your frustration, but turning your back on all OEMs apart from Google and Apple is a mistake. As far as I can tell from the news and research, Huawei is the only OEM to likely be politically unpopular.

Other good choices include: Samsung, Xiaomi, Nokia and OnePlus. Go for Samsung for a great all round experience, Xiaomi and OnePlus for good value phones that have near flagship specs and Nokia for pure Android, regular updates, premium phones and a solid build (most of their phones are all metal or metal/glass and have good specs for the price )

Glad u back to Huawei...mate 20 pro is a great phone...we should get 9.1 soon and should also get Q...then we could see...but as long as the phone works great I have no problem....waiting to see what mate 30 pro offers...

This whole fiasco is a shame for technological/mobile advances and innovation, as well as for consumers in general. However, it’s great for brands like Samsung and Xiaomi who can fill the gap Huawei has left behind in some areas. Others aren’t so happy, like Apple (backlash in China) and Google (loss of key Android using OEM)

My P20 is going nowhere. I love my phone, and I've just secured it up to the eyeballs. I'm in the UK, so still unsure how things will turn out... but where there is a will, there is a way. There will always be a way to get what you want on your phone (updates etc.), and for users like me (who keep phones just to spite politicians and corporates) we'll find a way.

Power to the people.

liked, I am using Mate20 and team up with my son, never let me down on performance. Also I read the on Huawei Answers and looks like the commitment is quite promising.

Hahaha what a joke. I feel sorry for anyone that undersold their phones when the sky was falling. Glad I have my phone still :)

Yup saw that today:D
Suddenly no longer a security risk, huh? Wow, Trump is so full of it.

Anyway, I still don't trust Huawei and will never buy their hardware again. Plus the ones I've had were crap hardware-wise too

Can't say my sediments mirror yours. Do find updates a bit on the hit-n-miss side at times yet my P20 & Pro are working exceptionally well. Would consider another but at this point and time these two handsets easily fulfil my requirements.
