Google Messages vs. Samsung Messages: What's your preference and why?

I've wanted to use g-messages but without scheduled send it was a deal breaker (and I didn't want to install an app just for that) so i used samsung. i just got the scheduled messages...and now realize that like someone mentioned earlier, there's no pin to top feature. Which means to send a text to my immediate family it's either find an older text or go through the motions of starting a new text. hmmm...
I'll give g-messages a shot though to see how much of a deal breaker the lack of pinning is with text msgs.

Google has started testing Scheduled Send. That feature should be coming soon.

LIke you, I hope they add pin to top eventually.

I have already switched full time to GM due to web messaging feature I use for work

I have Schedule Send on the beta version.

I'm so hooked on messaged for web I cannot use another app besides Google Messages.

Being a developer and on my computer all day I just really value having my messages without using my phone.

I tried the windows connect and it just was not as smooth and seemless as I wanted it to be.

I have Pin to top on Samsung messages. Go to the contact in messages - 3dots- on the bottom right of the panel that comes up there is a pin icon- press and wala it is pinned to the top of your message page!

When I had my Pixel phones I was using google messages. But since I received my note 20 ultra I had to switch to Samsung messages. When I 1st received my note 20 I installed google messages. When I would text my mother she would not get my messages (NONE). She has a pixel 2xl and using google messages as her app. So being that she was able to receive my messages while I was using Samsung messages that's what I have to use I guess. I have no idea why she would not get my messages using google messages but it is what it is. Just wish I could have stayed with using google messages.

SMS? Isn't that just for receiving 2FA codes?. .
Haven't sent a text in years.

I don't know what you do, but I'm in construction and pretty much all messaging is via txt. Employees, Subs, Suppliers - all use txt because they know everyone can receive those. As a PM, I am calling, emailing, and texting all day long. My messaging outside of work is a mix of txt and various other services. Probably my second most used messaging is fb Messenger - because of the platform penetration. Pretty much any friend or family member will have it. My wife and I use Telegram.

I'm a field electronics engineer.

Talk and message all day. Across several countries. Don't know anyone who hasn't been using WhatsApp for many many years.
Never ever sent a single picture or video via sms. Still get charged for that here I think.

No idea what a PM is though.

Project Manager.
So everyone you deal with has WhatsApp installed? Just not the case around here.
What do you get charged for there exactly? Sending a pic or video via mms? I didn't really understand that part.

Looks like end to end encryption is up and running now for Android messages, Just got a notification about it as I was texting my wife. My immediate family all use Android messages so this is a plus. I just wish I could pin a conversation to the top like Samsung's message app.

is there something magical I need to do to get the Scheduling Update on Google Messages? My entire family has it except and the tech nut here doesnt.. I have been on Beta forever, Apps and OS all up to date.

Ahhhh, project manager.

Yes. For a long time, 5 years + probably, everyone I know has used WhatsApp.
As above, not just immediate family and friends but work colleagues across many countries. It just works regardless of device, service plan etc.

Yes, we get charged for mms here. Ironically up until a few days ago I couldn't have told you what that charge was. But fate intervened and my wife sent a picture to my son via mms by accident a couple of days ago. Cost £0.55 for a single picture. And the quality was terrible. .

I'd like to use Samsung Messages because I can initiate texts from my Active 2 as opposed to only answering with Google Messages, but I enjoy the RCS features so I'm using Google Messages for now.

That's a very tough question to answer! I have used and loved both. Samsung has more customization but I also love the simplicity of Google's Messages app. At the moment, I am using Samsung Messages and am loving it.
