Google Nav or Sprint Nav...which is better?

Google or Sprint nav?

It's not entirely unusual. Google Maps sends me to the wrong place about 20% of the time.

I admit, google has taken me longer routs than needed at times but not by miles. I find google nav always accurate, though I check the route to make sure it is the shortest. I am pleased sprint has good navigation from what I read here. It is all good. It is when people say google nav is always epic fail, that I am moved to debate.

I could deal with longer routes. However, Google rather frequently puts my ending location a couple of miles away from the correct one. I've then checked Google Maps on my computer, and that's been wrong as well. So there seems to be a Google Maps accuracy issue, not an issue with Google Nav itself.

It's a shame, because I love its look and the convenience of voice command.

Well my friend that is highly unusual. What phone are you using? Does the gps lock nicely? Sounds like the gps locate function is off some way.

Unfortunately it's not as unusual as you think. The other unfortunate part is it has nothing to do with phone or anything else. It's 100% Google Maps. I made a post about this a while ago actually, back in August I think. Here's a perfect example. I went to meet up at my boss's shore house. I put his address in perfect, 1 Ocean Ave Monmouth Beach, NJ. Easy... Well it left me about a mile away. On the phone it showed where I was at was in fact 1 Ocean Ave, but in reality it was like 20 something Ocean Ave. Hell even the street view pic they showed was way off. I finally figured it out. When I went home I jumped on Google Maps to confirm my suspicion tht it was Google Maps, not my phone.. And I was correct. Look at the pics below. This is a pic I shot of Google Maps on my computer. It inexplicably shows 1 Ocean Ave in between 28 Ocean Ave and 20 Ocean Ave. That is 100% an issue with Google Map.. This also happened to me trying to go to a hospital which is completely unacceptable. It left me again almost a mile away from the hospital. And just like with the example above, even on Google Maps it showed the wrong place and even the wrong street view pic. I've yet to use it since.

I am including a link for you with information on help for your google maps Why are Google Maps suddenly inaccurate? - Maps Help
I am sorry your maps experiance is that way. I never use maps, I have always referred to google navigation through out, and have successfully used turn by turn with 100 percent accuracy over 70 or so times through convoluted cities such as Denver. Good luck.

Google Nav uses Google Maps.... That's my point. The nav issues Ive had is because of issues with Google Maps. Exactly what you saw in those pics, is exactly what I saw in the Google Nav application. It sent me to that spot that's shown in Google Maps. I've had at best a 70% accuracy rate with Google Nav. And no offense to Denver, it's no NYC or Northeast NJ in terms of how convoluted it is. And based on that article link you posted it seems that really dense areas are gonna have the problem the most...

Just for the record, the location for 1 Ocean Ave has since been fixed... Just using it as an example...

Lol, when did I say google nav doesn't use maps? lets agree that or experiences have been diffrrent. 70% is believable I suppose, a and a little more truthful than your comment that google nav is "fail" ha ha. Beside, it is free:)

You have one of the largest signatures on the net, can single space that for you? J/k. Have a day and enjoy sprint nav:)

I never said you said it doesn't use Google Maps, I was just pointing out that it's Google Maps that's causing the issue. Lol and yes I said Google Nav is fail, but that wasn't meant to be taken literally. Google Nav is awesome, I just wish it was more accurate for me.

It is all good. Btw ubuntu rocks, we can agree on that to the nth degree!

GPS navigation (in a car) is new to me, but I think that I prefer Sprint Jab just a bit. Google is pretty amazing, though - even with the voice. I can't generally hear it anyway. . . I keep my music loud. Hehehe. . .

I've tinker with both navigation software and Sprint Navi just seem a tad more flesh out. Although, I still use Google from time to time.

I have been a sprint nav user for years, like the voice and setup better than google maps

On the calendar page I can tap on an address and it goes right in to sprint navigation. Super clean and fast. So sprint navigation is the one I use
