Google Nexus 6 Battery life

Re: Battery life

I took the phone off the charger maybe 20 minutes ago. Down to 80% battery life. Sigh

So just using that logic, 20 minutes off charger and the battery is 20% used, after a hour and 40 minutes your battery will be 100% dead.

You can if you want, that loss of battery life was the worst I've ever experienced with the nexus 6.

It would really streamline the data if you guys would post more complete logs to <10% battery and definitely show the screen on time as that's the most important factor here..

So far I'm not impressed by what I see especially as Lollipop promised to lower power consumption. I get 4.5 hr SOT over 20 hours regularly on my stock rom LG G3.

26 hours of battery life with 3.5 hours of screen time, and 1.5 hours of talk time.
I had GPS and bluetooth on, and wifi turned off. I also had ambient display (with approx. 40% brightness), always listening (OK Google), and Google Now turned on. Gmail is set to sync 4 different email accounts, with 10-20 emails coming in each hour.
Note: I am running stock, encrypted, no root.

So I'm just going to post this here again and prove you wrong on the nexus 6 battery life. Let my screenshots do all the talking. Only thing I did is unlock the boot loader. Not rooted at all.

What was your phone doing during this time? Sitting idle?

My original post was of my phone sitting idle.

Re: Battery life

Right. Thanks for providing some info for bothers :)
Now on another note. If you don't provide the whole image for them it tends to mislead the masses ;).

Here are my screenshots for today. Very light usage today as it is Thanksgiving :).

How do we know the reception is bad? Yellow and Red mean bad reception?

My screen is almost always on as I'm almost always on one site or another, or streaming movies or TV through my Nexus 6 and I charge nightly. Not a big deal to me as I'm used to doing that.

I charge overnight, dumb question, can the battery be charged too much? Anyway I forgot my charger going to work yesterday and with general run of mill use I had 65% battery when I got home ....7am - 5pm.... I'm more than happy with that

Hello,

I just purchased a Nexus 6 and have been using it for about 2 days now. So far the battery life is pretty poor with only 2 hours 30 minutes of screen on time at the end of the day with 15% battery left. I have noticed that this phone has horrible reception compared to my other phones. My carrier is AT&T and I don't have this signal strength problem with any other phone. Also, it seems like my Nexus 6 turns off cell data/mobile network completely while its in my pocket asleep because it reconnects to LTE once I wake it up. My preferred network is on LTE not global.

This is an unlocked Nexus 6. I didn't get it through AT&T. Is this a software issue or a hardware issue? Any advice to correct this problem would be great! Thank you :D

I was having a pretty crappy two days with battery, so I cleared cache in recovery and all is well again. Not sure what the issue was, but that's done the trick many times for me in the past. Sometimes when there is an update to Google play services it causes battery to drain.

Also, as well as clearing the cache, I've switched to a dark wallpaper and it's definitely made a difference as well. Give it a try.

Seconding this; my iPhone 4S gets better battery life than my 1 year old Nexus 6. Even idle it just gets 3 hours of life, most recent operating system 6.0.1. I don't have bad cell service either and have reset the device multiple times as well. I used to get amazing battery life when I first got it (didn't have to charge at all till the end of the day) but now my SOT is 1.5 hours at most. Somehow the Android System and Exchange Services are using more battery percentage than the screen, despite disabling pushing and fetching on e-mail accounts. I might just install a CyanogenMod ROM and see if that fixes things, although that's kind of annoying to have to do to actually have a functioning device.

Turn off adaptive brightness in display and make sure to update your software to 6.0 and you will see huge improvement in battery life. My nexus 6 last all day
